"A gorgeous get away, with lots of lovely touches. The staff are very attentive and welcoming. The rooms are spacious, comfy and clean. Breakfast was a real treat. Couldn’t recommend enough!"
"Absolutely lovely place to stay, very close walk to town too and such good options for food! Room was great and would thoroughly recommend this property to stay at!"
"Lovely place, beautiful food and a really nice room and ambience. But what really made this place was the wonderful warm staff.
The lady on arrival was really welcoming, the girl looking after us for food was very attentive and the gentleman who welcomed us at breakfast was delightful.
Would highly recommend and will be back in future, thankyou so much!"
"Lovely beer garden with the option to eat meals in the beer garden
Parking was a bit hit and miss as there are a lot of rooms and not a lot of parking spaces
Staff were very friendly and meals very good
Accommodation was very comfortable and rooms were quiet
Highly recommended"

"We were given a beautiful, spacious room with everything we needed, luxurious toiletries, fresh milk and water in the fridge and an electric fan.
Very comfortable. "
"Obviously anywhere that makes their own sour dough bread, is the place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble for Pascale. Lovely welcome, great room, quiet and plenty of space. Good shower. Breakfast - apart from the Kelloggs offering- yuk…_is freshly made and a good selection. The location of Cawthorne House is brilliant, easy to walk into the centre. Nice walk to Thornton-le-Dale. Also has a car park round the back, so handy."
"This is a tricky one to score, so I'll elaborate here.
The property is lovely, more spacious than we expected and comfortably furnished. Combi boiler so hot water is plentiful. Great shower!
The location is absolutely perfect, centre of Pickering and on the A-road but not much street noise can be heard inside.
Cleanliness was generally good, although when checking we had everything on departure we found someone else's socks under the bed!
But...
Kitchen set up was rather sparse for a self catering holiday, including an oven shelf that is wider than the oven!
Toilet was iffy, I grew up with chain-pull cisterns but none as temperamental as this. Sometimes one pull was fine, sometimes it needed several to flush, a couple of times we had to give up!
What really let it down was the management of the property. Several things in the house manual need updating, such as details of the thermostat. The wifi did not work the whole of our stay. I reached out to the property manager by phone and by text message but responses were slow or non-existent and in the end I gave up. This did cause us some difficulties during our holiday and was disappointing for sure.
On balance, I would stay here again but I'd be checking reviews first to see if these issues have improved."
"Lovely property in the village of Pickering, parking available on premises.Lovely and clean inside and everything you would need for your break.Right in the heart of the village with shops in walking distance and close to the castle.
The only downside was communication,it took 3 emails then a phone call to get any response regarding staying an extra night. There needs to be a mirror in the front bedroom over the dressing table ,had to use the other guest room to dry my hair and then we had to move the big mirror near a socket plug. There needs to be an outside light outside the door at night ,we couldn’t see a thing when we arrived back at night. This is a downstairs apartment so bare in mind that there is noise from the upstairs guests especially if they have children running up and down the room.
You can’t get into your property till 4 pm but have to be out by 10am which is not even 24hours in the property!"
"We had a wonderful reception from the owner. Assisted us throughout our stay. It was lovely to open up the window and enjoy the cooling breeze after other stuffy rooms. Breakfast was a delight. Great experience and highly recommended."
