Conveniently Located Downtown Condo with Garden!

Centrally located in downtown Santa Barbara and three blocks from State Street Promenade, Urban Escape is hidden away in an eight-unit complex of charming townhomes.

Enter the home on the ground floor with two guest rooms, each offering varying accommodation options. One bedroom features a queen-size bed and garden views; the other is dual-purpose with "work from home" benefits of a desk, a printer, and a pull-out, full-size sofa bed for overnight guests when needed. Open the French doors to enter the lush, enclosed patio outside this multi-functional room. There is a corner seating area around a stone fire pit, a dining table with an umbrella, and a barbecue. Glowing bistro lights add ambiance to the private space, abundant with flowering plants and vines; the tranquil fountain adds a constant peaceful backdrop to a very pretty yard.

On the second floor, vaulted ceilings and high windows create volume in the bright, great room with cheerful, mid-century style. With a flip of a switch ignite the gas fireplace, watch a bit of television, or challenge someone to a quiet chess game in the sunny living room. Whatever the activity, it's a great place to hang out with loved ones and friends or share a meal at the teak dining table that easily seats six. The chic cocktail bar provides martini glasses, cordial glassware, and tools to make happy hour extra special. French doors open to a balcony where morning coffee or evening cocktails are made special at a vintage bistro table. Perch on the bench and enjoy the neighborhood views from here, where tall, light-filtering trees and palms cast lacy shadows below.

The Wedgewood blue kitchen is ideally equipped for the chef in the group to create magic at mealtime. There is a vast array dishes, tools, and small appliances, including a Kitchenaid stand mixer for the baker in the brunch. Be sure you have some real maple syrup on hand to take advantage of the waffle maker, which will turn out tasty breakfast treats for all. Yum!

On this same level, the primary suite is a spacious room with a vaulted ceiling; included is a king-size bed, ceiling fan, Sonos speaker, dual closets, and an attached en suite bathroom with a tub and shower. The powder room side of this dual-purpose bathroom is also open to the hallway for added convenience to the upstairs, yet can be locked off for primary suite use only.

The gift of this comfortable residence is its downtown location, only three blocks from State Street. The pedestrian promenade and Paseo Nuevo Mall provide ample opportunities to wander, shop, or relax at favorite restaurants like Joe's and Ureka Burger, or treat the group to a McConnell's Ice Cream sundae! Nearby Santa Barbara Roasting Company offers daily roasted coffee, pastries, and a casual, relaxed vibe. The welcome book at the property will provide many other ideas, much of which may be within walking distance of Urban Hideaway.

Of course, the beach is the #1 draw for guests coming to Santa Barbara, so pack up, grab some snacks at the Little Corner Store, and head to the beach, the Harbor, or Shoreline Park. As a hidden gem near downtown, Urban Escape is a welcoming home for city dwellers seeking a respite in this world-class city on the Central Coast.

Clean and comfortable plus convenient location

We had a very nice stay. The spacious primary bedroom is upstairs near the kitchen/living spaces, while the two additional rooms are located downstairs. It’s a perfect set-up with teenagers or guests when some privacy is appreciated. Gas fireplace was lovely as were the French doors opening up to a small outdoor deck. The complex itself is very pretty and updated, situated in a convenient location walking distance to shops and restaurants downtown and close to freeway access. Really an all around great spot!
