It has recently been raised more than six feet off the ground, making the raised deck quite comfortable for a barbeque, or to just sit outside and enjoy the breeze and sound of the sea in one direction, and the visual beauty of the estuary in the other. 「This was our first stay at The Pioneer on York Beach, and it was perfect for our family. There was plenty of room for the adults and our 7 grandchildren, and everyone had a great time. Much of our time was spent on the beach each day, which was just a short walk from the house. No issues with trash disposal or noise or crazy traffic or anything. 」

「The property and house were well laid out and clean. Perfect for 3 couples easily and great AC (July). A little disconnect between VRBO and owner on check in details but that was easily resolved with direct contact to me from the owner of the property. Highly recommend!」

「This house was fabulous and perfect for our large family. Everything we needed was all at the house, from the large kitchen to all of the bedrooms with bathrooms. The large dining table was a nice way to have our family dinners every night, with lots of talk about the days adventures.This house was ideal for 14 adults and 4 little ones. If I could give more than 5 stars for this house, I would, and we are planning on coming back next year.」

「The house and grounds are beautiful, especially if you appreciate old historic houses. Issues did arise ut Chelsi responded very quickly. The kitchen is modern w room for lots of cooks. We made use of most of the amenities -pool, sauna, theater room. Location is great- near beach and rail trail, and short distance to rye, Portsmouth, kittery . It worked perfectly for our college roommate reunion.」
