My adult son and I stayed one night at this hotel in early January. The airport bus took us directly to the hotel as its last stop. I had wanted to visit Wakkanai so as to be able to take a bus up to Cape Soya, the northern tip of Japan, and to see La Perouse strait, where the submarine USS Wahoo was sunk in October of 1943. There is now a peace monument at Cape Soya along with other monuments. The Surfeel Hotel Wakkanai was an ideal hotel for our purposes. The Wakkanai bus terminal is only a few blocks away. My son and I had separate rooms, each with a wonderful view of the Japan Sea. Lunch in the restaurant was reasonably priced and was excellent. The staff kindly held our luggage for a few hours in the reception area after checkout, while we did some souvenir shopping at the bus terminal. The return airport bus that afternoon had its first stop at the hotel.
