"The service at Koshinoyado Takashimaya was unbelievably perfect, consistently exceeding my every expectation.
The food was so exceptional that I must say it was better than most any other ryokan I've stayed at. The menu served, the quality of the ingredients and the careful, discerning preparation made each meal an event to look forward to.
Yes, this is an older ryokan, but its food and service stand as truly compelling reasons to stay here."
"The hotel was generally okay and the staff were very friendly, but unfortunately there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the room that kept me awake all night."

"This is a Japanese business style hotel in Tsubamesanjo. It was very close to the train station, but also had a free parking lot. The room was small but adequate. The bathroom was very tiny. The beds were Western style but lower than normal and the mattresses were quite firm, as were the buckwheat-filled pillows. The buffet breakfast had some hot items (poached eggs, sausage, potato fritters, etc.) as well as rice and grilled fish. They make their own croissants, which were good. In all a clean safe place to stay which is close to the train station. "
"Beautiful traditional Japanese Inn. Long history behind the inn nicely updated. Incredibly kind and helpful staff. The service of the traditional dinner in our room was above and beyond. We didn’t always know why we were eating but we did try everything. The hot bathing tub and outdoor shower were lovely and private. Nice amenities for the room. For US travelers the futon mats could have been a little thicker and the pillows were definitely unusual for us but obviously traditional. Breakfast was again traditional Japanese and everything very fresh. Staff went out of their way to use translation service to help us with our scheduling of transportation. A bit out of the way from the bigger city"
"Overall the hotel is clean and the room is spacious but one thing grates me with these hotel chains they ask a hiring price for a kettle (1000yn) other than that they offer coffee/tea facilities down in the foyer. Taking a cup of tea up a flight of stairs to the Mrs can be a bit of a chore for a four-score age person. Breakfast finished at 9am and my wife rolled up at 9.04am and promptly told "NO BREAKFAST" bit rich as most places have breakfast going till 10am and beside we were not informed of the time period for the breakfast. Other than that the hotle offer spacious rooms with twin beds."
