Great location quick stroll to York centre. Room was quite small but everything to hand. The record player in the room was a nice touch and the staff were wonderful. Good selection from the breakfast menu also. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

The whole hotel is incredibly dirty and run down. There were hairs all over the bed and floors, stains on the walls, and peeling paint everywhere. The staff were incredibly kind and friendly, and whilst orders arrived incorrectly each day at breakfast, the food was tasty. On the Thursday night, the music from the bar was so loud until midnight, that I slept with earphones in. This is definitely not at a 4* level, I suspect there are much better options around York.

Really great hotel with so much attention to detail. Record players in the room and a huge selection of records is a really nice touch. The Radio was on when we arrived to our room and the Pantry is generous & a really unique touch. Canadian lady on the Bar was knowledgeable & super friendly (Pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the extensive bar menu was priced). Just really really cool & great location.

Highly recommend No.1 Guesthouse to anyone visiting York. The hotel is just outside the old city walls, but only a short walk to York Minster. The hotel is wonderfully designed and updated. The lounge and bar are comfortable and well appointed. Our room was fantastic, with a comfortable bed and tons of natural light. The staff at No.1 were all pleasant and helpful.
