Top Matlock Hotel Reviews
The Family Tree
10/10 Excellent
"Location amazing. Room was very clean and beautiful. Bed comfy. Staff friendly. Breakfast was 10/10. Perfect stay thank you"
Oakhill
8/10 Good
"On our arrival we were met by the delightful owner who made us feel very welcome. She was also a source of information which proved extremely beneficial. Our room was part of the converted stable block which was fine apart from the small windows which made the room dark and claustrophobic. Had we stayed longer then I would of asked to be moved. The bathroom was impressive which consisted of both shower and slipper bath. Food good served by young staff who looked after all our needs really efficiently. Definitely call again if we should be in the area…….. thank you all."
The Old Lockup
10/10 Excellent
"Exactly as described in other reviews. A quirky and interesting property, a friendly and helpful host, and a good breakfast."
Grouse & Claret, Derby by Marston's Inns
8/10 Good
"Okay for a short stay. Little bit of tlc was needed throughout, otherwise all ok"
High Tor Hotel
8/10 Good
"Romney was clean and fed comfortable"
The Beeley Inn
8/10 Good
"Hotel is a nice building (set of buildings) in a gorgeous, quiet village (other than the hotel / bar). Our room was over the bar and whilst there was some noise, it wasn’t too loud. The bedrooms are good rather than stunning and have a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, nice biscuits and fresh milk (hooray). Our room had a shower but no bath. Breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly and professional. We were happy with the stay, but left feeling it was a bit expensive for what it was."
The Fountain Tea Rooms B&B
10/10 Excellent
"Well equipped well decorated double room in quite location . Friendly welcome staff and owner are lovely nothing to much trouble. Two pubs within 5 mins walking distance. For walkers plenty to do around the area coming back for lunch at the fountain tea rooms a good choice"
Hodgkinson's Hotel
8/10 Good
"Overall, very positive. I'll come on to the Good Stuff in a bit, but first... When I arrived (at the time I said I would when booking) the hotel door was locked and it looked deserted. I called the number I found for it on Google, and a harassed sounding woman said I should have received a message telling me how to get in. (I had received many messages from Expedia claiming to be from the hotel, but all were blank. This is almost certainly a problem with Expedia, not the hotel itself.) She came round and let me in, gave me the key, then went back to (presumably) her other job at the amusement arcade. I then discovered my room was at the front, facing the busy main road, not at the back as I'd booked. But the poor woman who'd come to rescue me had sounded so pressured that I didn't feel I could summon her back again, so I made do. That said... the double glazing (admittedly on a slightly dodgy sash window) kept out the worst of the noise, and everything else about the room was great. A lovely Victorian-style decor, good spacious ensuite, plentiful tea and coffee, etc. The next morning, the friendly staff served me a HUGE Full English. Very welcome with a day's cycling and work ahead! And they let me store my bike in the lounge. So, lots of good things. But Oh for the days when hotels had at least one member of staff on site to greet you on arrival. I know costs are high and staff are hard to find, but it would be so much more welcoming!"
Gulliver's Resort Matlock Bath
