"Our stay at the New Inn 1730 was only overnight, and we arrived around 6pm on a Sunday evening. This is a welcoming & friendly pub, with restaurant and accommodation. The owner did his best to accommodate our needs during our short stay, and is still finding his feet a little having only recently taken on the business. Food options were limited when we arrived, particularly for our two fussy children, so we did eat elsewhere that night, but the cooked breakfast in the morning was very good,...

"We had a wonderful stay at Appleby Castle. We were made so welcome by hosts Sally and Peter. The room was adequate for a castle. Dinner was superb, a of mix of prawn and salmon starter followed by main course of garlic chicken. The setting was the in the beautiful dining room. We were the only ones dining, and had the chef cooking solely for ourselves !! Peter played the piano as we dined. Sally could not have been nicer as we chatted. "The staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. The food was very good. The hotel is very comfortable, well furnished and very quiet being a little remote. No outside noise and very little noise inside the hotel even with coach parties staying over. Looking forward to my next visit."
