"I don't like to leave a poor review, but I was encouraged by my whole group to leave an honest review. I've waited 4 weeks to write this as I don't want to be negative; I will be honest and you can make up your own mind.We arrived on a Saturday late afternoon to find:1. An exterior door not only unable to CLOSE but also unable to be LOCKED so it was completely unsecured. I texted the owner 3 times and called twice. The maintenance did not come until the next mid-morning. For such a severe maintenance issue, I think the response should have been immediate. The house should not have been rented until security was assured.2. Without going into great detail, the entire home was so dirty. The kitchen cupboards were dirty, with old crumbs and food in the drawers. The floors, surprisingly, were not only dirty with sand and gravel but were filthy. We took our shoes off - respecting the home - and within 15 minutes of walking around, our socks were almost black!3. We went to get the broom and mop to clean the floors so we could walk on the floors without shoes and the cleaning tools were unbelievable! Black, dirty and filthy!4. There was so much dust and dirt on the light fixture above the dining table, we couldn't eat there until my sister got up on a chair to clean it.....then she had to clean the table as all the filth and dead bugs were now laying there.5. None of us dared turn on any of the ceiling fans (which would have been a welcomed treat given the wa"

"Eight adults and one westie dog enjoyed our stay. We got out two days to explore from the end of Hatteras to Duck. We visited the Graveyard of the Atlantic museum, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and Bodie lighthouse but were unable to do much at the lighthouses or do anything at all at the Wright brothers monument in Kitty Hawk due to the Government shutdown. Ate at two great restaurants. Waterman’s and Mirro’s. Also beautiful sunset on sound side at our stop at Dairy Queen for ice cream. Picture below.We had enough dishes to eat on and cook with but the silverware was lacking, especially spoons. Pool water was cool but there were a couple that braved it and enjoyed the hot tub. Living area was great and plenty of room for all to enjoy watching tv, putting together puzzles and reading or crafting which we did. Everyone talked about how they would love to come back here again. "

"Ocean was visible from 2nd and rooftop balconies Pool was nice and clean easy access to the beach There were some ant issues in the kitchen if you left some thing on the counter overnight "

"Oceanfront for this area does not mean directly on the ocean so you cannot see the beach from the home. I think its fair to let people know this. But it was still a great home and great beach. "

"The house properties need some work. Be careful of the Spanish bayonet that is right in the walkway. It’s not shown in the picture. It is not very appealing when you drive up at all. The porch has no seating on it except a dirty picnic table that is crammed up against the wall. There is nothing provided. Do bring soaps, towels, sheets, paper products. She had a ton of pots and pans. About 6 little plates. A bunch of cups and glassware! We could not get to the house for the first night due to a storm and an accident that closed the Basnight Bridge. The ferry’s were shut down. The host was not accommodating and not very empathetic. I would suggest buying the insurance. All of it. "

"Our main concern was the filthy condition of the house. (We had to clean it upon arrival) Also, the ice maker wasn't working. There was no toilet paper when we arrived. The hot tub wasn't working when arrived."
