“The place was more run down than expected and felt closer to a motel than a hotel stay. One major issue was the bathroom setup — there was no shower curtain separating the shower from the toilet, so water got all over the toilet and floor every time the shower was used. The staff was very nice, and Scott was especially responsive, offered helpful suggestions, and did his best to accommodate our needs, which was appreciated. However, the cost was still very high at $718 for four nights. I assume……

“We had an absolutely fantastic time at Villas Pina! Stayed 4 nights here in April. The 6 rooms all have the same layout and are very practical and spacious. There is a small kitchen with a large fridge, safety box and 2 queen beds! Also there is a large veranda and you get coffee every morning before breakfast, which we very much enjoyed while watching one of the sloth in the mango tree in front of us. “This delightful eco lodge felt so laid back and relaxed, while also providing lovely amenities that we felt so taken care of. We stayed in one of their queen-bed bungalos which was open air (but screened in) and had a hot shower. Only having wifi at the lodge meant we fully unplugged while in our little jungle home, but we're still able to have access in the common area for trip planning which was helpful. We loved being able to walk across the street to Playa Chiquita, which has the loveliest……

“What a beautiful property! There was always enough shade in and around the pools, and excellent bird watching within the hotel grounds. The location was excellent, with the beaches, national park, and town/restaurants within easy walking distance, but it was nice and peaceful at the hotel itself. Isabella is amazing, she helped me order food for delivery in the rain, she helped organize excursions, she helped with bike rentals/organized tuk tuks, and recommended things to do around town/best sunsets. Anytime I am in Puerto Viejo I will stay at Villa Roca de Caribe for sure.”
