“We loved our two nights stay at Melfort House. It was peaceful idyll that restored us somewhat as we were nearing the end of our road trip through Scotland. Matthew is a wonderful host, and we felt welcome in his home. The breakfast offerings were top notch, and our room and bed were so comfortable. The location was perfect for a day trip to nearby Oban, which should not be missed, particularly for the seafood and Oban Distillery tour. “The room was VERY small. So if you’re on a longer visit with lots of luggage the room we were in (#2) would not be able to accommodate you and your luggage. We asked for a king bed but it was a queen and there was no AC on an unusually warm weather day. We were on the first level so the guests who were in the rooms above kept pacing overnight and the noise was loud and prevented us from getting any sleep. The young woman who was our server at breakfast 6/23 was rude and unpleasant which has not……

“We rented electric bikes to ride over to the castle a few miles away. The whole process was simple. We even got to relax at the pool for a little while. The staff was so accommodating and wonderful. Beds were comfy and clean. Really can’t complain.”

“The staff at the Crinan was extremely helpful. Our flight delays had us getting there well after midnight and staff was ready to get us checked in and settled as soon as we arrived. I wish that we had more time to spend exploring the local area. Breakfast at the hotel was delicious and the coffee shop is an added bonus. Our room was perfect and the bed was amazingly comfortable. Definitely reccommend staying at the hotel!”

“This is close enough to Oban but still far enough away ... you felt like you were getting both a bigger city but also a cute hotel on the water. The restaurant/pub made it feel so cozy and the rooms were good and meet all the needs. It felt very comfortable.”

“Both elevators were out at one point, the staff couldn’t check me in even minutes earlier than the 3pm guideline,and the whole ‘meal thing’ felt weird about inclusions or exclusions. Pay to park (but only 10 pounds) for two nights - but still…great location for rail or ferry, but the staff couldn’t check use an upgrade. PS. Why are the damn hallways so narrow to your room? I could barely get by a maids cart…seems like the fire regulations would be wider. Narrowest I have ever seen in any hotel.……
