"What a hidden gem in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. This property deserves more than 5 stars. I would give it 10. No big box hotels with the usual. The Mislyn Inn is an incredible find in class, value and amenities from the "Historic Hotels of America." These smaller independent hotels are trying to compete with the big boys by providing beautiful accommodations wrapped in history. A sweeping staircase, majestic columns, gorgeous gardens. I felt like I was in "Gone With The Wind". My room was clean, quite large, beautifully decorated and at a price lower than Comfort or Hampton Inn. Incredible!! The Speakeasy on the basement level served delicious food at value prices. So wonderful to find a hotel of such great value that made me feel like a movie star. Kind staff, comfy room and such beauty from my window and the front patio rocking in a chair with a cool glass of Virginia white wine. I am super fussy when I travel. This place hit the bulls eye."
"Solitude" Secluded 1 BR Cabin Nestled in the Woods w/ Hot Tub near Luray, VA.
10/10 Excellent
"This cabin home is very beautiful and clean.Upon our arrival, we were surprised by a warm welcoming of the owner.Prior to our arrival, there was a storm and Derek was still cleaning up trees. He made us feel very comfortable. Our stay was very peaceful and even our doggie was relaxed! We just enjoyed the little touches w/ cookies and the information about the area. The view is amazing and the hot tub was wonderful.Highly recommended!"
"Staying on-site for Shenandoah National Park was a big help in traversing the park. You will need to pay an entry pass for the park to get here though.
This is an old place, not a lot of frills, but if you are just staying to go hit the park it is perfect. Many rooms are small 3 or 4 unit clusters all attached. The rooms may or may not have AC, Wifi is non existant in the rooms, and most of the site and park. It does the job, but if you want a lot of amenities go outside the park. Had a mini fridge, cable TV, and running water so it got the job done. It is a cozy place with the basics.
The main office/ lodge has great wifi, maps, a restaurant, and a place to sit and hang out. It also has a store/ gift shop with stuff from and for the park, and a few food items. A great place, a highlight of the complex.
The restaurant is very odd, it is a sit and dine restaurant with specials and a more mature menu. It is not cheap, nor really kid appealing. We ended up not eating there during our stay due to the limited menu.
It is literally in the middle of the National Park, so it is easy to get to the places you want, and makes some dark sky opportunities a short drive away."
"The price is what initially caught our attention, especially for this area, and while it’s not typically the type of lodging we choose, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, the views were beautiful, and the room was exceptionally clean. Although the building is older, it is very well maintained and full of character. Its location is also a huge plus—just five minutes from the caverns. Overall, it exceeded our expectations, and we would absolutely stay here again. 10/10!"
