We had a pleasure staying at Reikaku. The house offers authentic machiya and modern mix vibes. We had a trouble using electric stove but the owner responded right away and able to figure out. Very helpful! Also the location is perfect! Just a block away from all tourist sites and our favorite Arabica coffee shop! We walked to Gion couple times with a stroller and it was very convenient for us.

Location is great. Only 10-15 minutes walk to Kiyomizu-dera and Gion. The house is very cute. Very roomy compare to hotel room. Had an issue with upstairs AC unit. Customer service returned my email very quickly to guide me through. It was an user issue 😂. Washer and dryer is all in one unit. We had hard time drying our cloth. But I think the trick is to leave the door to the unit open so machine could have better air circulation. Other than that, we had a great time staying at this property.

The place is conbeniently located near Gion. It is quiet, very clean, and new in appearance. We slept on 2 beds and 2 futons. Lighting, toilet are high tech and wifi is superfast. Tomomi is a great host. I would recommend Wechat app to communicate with her if need be. 7/11 nearby for international ATM and quick takeouts. Highly recommend cafe Naty for breakfast (opens at 7am) and cafe garcon for crepes within 5 min walking distance.

We would book it again

We think it's a wonderful house in a quiet area and still in the middle of everything. It was great that it was possible to perpare for the two of us more than one futon (as european we are not used to sleep on just one futon) Also communication was efficient and helpful finding the house and getting a taxi for the last day right in time.

위치도 방도 좋아요

위치가 참 좋았어요. 기요미즈데라, 산넨자카, 니넨자카와 정말 가까웠습니다. 가와라마치에 갈 때도 구글맵에서 알려주는 길을 따라가지 말고 켄닌지 부지를 통과해서 가면 금방 갈 수 있습니다. 마트가 가까워서 식사를 해결하기 정말 편했고, 대로변에서 조금 들어간 위치라 시끄럽지 않아서 좋았어요. 방도 깔끔하고 필요한 것들이 잘 갖춰져있었습니다. 지은지 얼마 되지 않은 것인지 전반적으로 새것 같은 느낌이 많이 났구요. 한국 가정집들처럼 바닥 난방이 돼서 따뜻하게 지낼 수 있었습니다. 제일 좋았던 건 작은 정원이 내부에 있고, 욕실에서 문을 활짝 열면 정원과 곧장 연결이 되어 마치 노천탕에서 목욕하는 듯한 느낌이 났던 것입니다. 욕조에 물을 자동으로 채울 수 있는 시스템이 있어 편리했습니다. 어메니티, 캡슐 커피 등이 세심하게 갖춰져있었고 세탁기가 있어 장기 투숙시에도 좋을 것 같아요. 윗층에도 작은 화장실이 하나 더 있어서 편했습니다. 다만 경사가 완만하지 않은 계단이 있어 걷는 게 능숙하지 않은 나이의 어린이를 동반했을 경우에는 다소 불편할 수 있을 것 같습니다. 딱 한 가지 아쉬웠던 건 늦은 시간에 도착해서 체크인 당시 직원을 직접 만나지 못 했고, 숙소의 전자기기들 설명을 듣기 위해 영상 통화를 했어야 하는 부분입니다. 영상을 통해 타국어로 대화해야하는 상황이 상당히 난감하더군요. 다행히 아버지께서 일본어를 좀 해서 해결이 됐지만. 영상 통화보다는 영어로 된 설명서가 비치되어있는 쪽이 훨씬 편했을 것 같습니다. 이 점 하나를 빼면 정말 아쉬운 점이 없는 숙소였고 교토를 다시 방문하게 된다면 또 묵고 싶은 곳이네요.
