"Great host and communication. The house is cozy and it had everything we needed. The air conditioning was great in the Japanese heatwave. In just under 10 minutes, you can walk to some of the nicest streets in Kyoto with temples and cafes. "Hotel Granvia is the perfect location: the JR and local trains are all downstairs. We’ve stayed here 2 years ago and loved it! The staff, bell hops and housekeping are so courteous and helpful. The hotel is inside the Kyoto station which hosts, restaurants and lots of stores for shopping. Hotel Granvia also has a beautifully lit Cinderella type carriage (at night) and a Kyoto sign - a photo opportunity! The only downfall this year was we were on the 9th floor and facing the train station (JR train side). Each morning around 3am we can hear the trains passing by… Other than that, we will stay at this hotel again facing Kyoto Tower next time we come to Kyoto."

"The room was absolutely amazing! There were amenities throughout the room, including a Matcha set, tea set, salts for your bath, etc. our room had a huge soaking tub right next to a full shower. The room was entirely clean as well as the hotel and the staff were amazing! The beds were also very comfortable and they offered multiple types of pillows. "

"Pros: Rooms were clean, daily breakfast and dinner is good, lawson’s is right beside the hotel, many restaurants nearby, staff were very sweet and helpful, Kyoto Station isn’t too far, public bath, and it’s a quieter neighborhood. Cons: Check out is 10am but Check in is at 4pm, hotel is older with many rooms but the map isn’t clean so it’s hard finding your room at first, coin laundry machines but they were pretty dirty with dirt stuck on the sides like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while, the dryer didn’t even dry my clothes(2 pants) so it felt like a waste of money, not many amenities. Some things to keep in mind: In case you want to do early check in, they charge more before 1pm and after 1pm they charge 30% of current room prices, same with late check out. You have to book dinner beforehand."
