Kauai Inn

10/10 Excellent

"The Kauai Inn is quirky, eclectic, and all the other adjectives that describe a historic inn nestled next to the Lihue harbor. Drive past the warehouses, docks, storage tanks, and assorted industrial activity to a secluded garden spot housing rooms that look like they're relics from the 50s. Will you be impressed with the luxurious surroundings and comfort? No. But everything works, the place is clean, quiet, and well organized. The Wifi is nice, strong, and steady, and the view out the back sliding door is phenomenal. Enjoy (or not) the chickens and peacocks waking you up each morning, and know you're right where you need to be to quickly get to wherever and whatever Kauai has in store for you that day."

"Staff excellent, poke best ever location plus's. Negatives were 1 towl in bathroom when arrived, Worst Bed Ever in over 3000 hotels I finally complained the 3rd day when my back was going out and they replaced the mattress, extra charges galore. AIf this place was remodeled and cleaned up a few issues it I would recommend it but too many issues."

"The first room that I paid for through Expedia and checked in was super hot they did not turn on the AC before we arrived so it was like 90°. We had three twin beds and one small AC. It was not acceptable so we asked if we can be moved. They moved us into a cottage which ended up costing 90 extra dollars for the night, but it had three small ACs And definitely was worth the upgrade for a better night sleep it was extremely hot and humid we was not able to get any of the amenities. I think all they offered was coffee anyways so it was about $300 for a night. It was OK. It looked like it was pretty close to several little restaurants but we did not go to them. We had other things on our agenda that we were doing. Next time I would pay a little extra and possibly have a pool and some other amenities for about the same price or a little bit more."

"Unbeknownst to me my room was aligned with the valet parking spaces and main entrance to the hotel. Through out the night until they filled those spots all I heard was the car alarms for opening and closing and sitting the alarm’s for these vehicles. Then it started back up as early as 6 am beeping alarms to opening of these cars doors. I don’t believe that this was a first time that the hotel has been made aware of this and it’s not an ideal room to have your balcony literally on the main entrance and there valet parking right outside your door. The room was clean and comfortable it just wasn’t a vacation type atmosphere because it was irritating to have to put up with such a unnecessary noise."

"Stick with the resort food, the restaurants (dukes and cafe portifino are not great, especially at their prices) but the sushi on site and the bar restaurant are very good. The pool is beautiful, great beach access, luau was fun. Check out gaylords rum tour, best part of the trip!"
