"Hakone Airu was a lovely, intimate experience in a ryokan with a private onsen. The mattresses on the tatami mats were comfortable and we slept really well. The bathroom amenities were plentiful - a full skincare routine plus shower necessities. The private onsen was awesome, and we spent a majority of our day on the balcony. It wasn’t luxurious, but it wasn’t"

"Unfortunately due to weather Mt Fuji view wasn’t there from the room. There is an issue with mosquitoes in the room despite insect repellent and the room had a distinct moist smell. The outdoor onsen is good. There isn’t any rule observations for onsen though as I have witnessed foreigners with large uncovered multiple tattoos entering the onsen without showering or covering the tattoos. The Kaiseki dinner was ok, less than my last stay at a different ryokan. Considering the price it’s a little disappointing."

"Very relaxing, ocean view. Hot springs very enjoyable. Buffet breakfast and dinner well presented with great variety. A lot of steps going down with a suitcase to get to the hotel. Use the free shuttle but it only runs a few hours a day. Taxi was around 1000 Yen"

I love the place, but the Expedia did screw up. I chose the place because of their Kaiseki dinners, I chose and paid for it. The hotel did not have the information, I chose the dinner plan but the property did not receive the information. Costing me more money. But I’m glad I did it because it was worth the experience."
