"This is a 100 yr old (approx), lovely house that was converted into a B&B about 10 years ago. Our room had a nice lanai. The breakfast was very good and made to order. The on-site staff was helpful. The only downside was that the pool wasn't available due to volcano activity a couple days before we arrived and it hadn't been cleaned yet. "

"The internet was sporadic but that could be due weather conditions since it was a stormy 5 days. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant service was slow. Overall our stay was good and I would stay here again."

"Not worth the money you pay"

" The room was cool & clean (good A/C). Lots of room in the unit as well as a big kitchen. "

"Incredibly good deal for the price. No elevator but my unit was a mini apartment with sofa bed, kitchenette stocked with utensils, cookware and real plates and glasses. Fridge/freezer was much larger than the under counter units in bigger chain hotels. There was even a washer/ dryer. Better than an Extended Stay in that regard. Hotel manager was easily accessible by phone to answer questions and deal with a complicated booking situation. Got it resolved quickly and extremely favorably. Parking was free and very close to the building. 12 spaces advertised but the last two were in the exit driveway. No one wanted to back out of the driveway onto the street (no turn around) or get hit so didn't park in those spaces. Some small things that would make it even better: I actually baked a pizza in the toaster oven. Hot mitts would have been nice. A small trash can under the kitchen sink would be nice. Beats walking into the bathroom or living room after wiping up spills. Couldn't tell if the remote control for room comfort did anything. The settings changed on the remote but not on the unit inside the room. I would definitely stay there again."

"Wonderful staff! Very close to the airport, downtown, and stadium. Room was clean. If you are traveling with anyone who has mobility issues, some rooms are located far from the lobby. There are no stairs for rooms on the upper level. We could hear people outside of our room passing by and talking and going up the stairs with their luggage. Hard to fall asleep with the noise. "

"The property grounds were beautiful and serene. We were so happy we chose this place outside the hustle and bustle of Hilo. The trip into Hilo was about 20 minutes, but the drive was beautiful and worth the peacefulness of the property. There were many sites to see within a few miles, such as Akaka falls and the Botanical Gardens."

"We would have given all 5s except that when we arrived we were not met by a host. We were able to let ourselves in using the lock box key. We discovered the beds not made, trash in the rooms and on the floors, linen in piles and in the washing machine. After checking to make sure we had the correct day and time, we called Charlotte and got an immediate response. She apologized for a missed communication, and arranged for 3 housekeepers to make the beds and provide clean towels. The next day the housekeeper returned to finish cleaning. In spite of our initial dismay and confusion, it was clearly evident to us that even in its dishelved state, this property was/is unique, loved (well maintained), and worth waiting for. So we did, and we are glad that we did! "
