“We stayed in a Garden View room. On our first night around 10 PM, the AC began leaking in our room in Building 5, and we had to be transferred to Building 4. It was frustrating having to walk back, pack everything up, and switch rooms that late at night. A bellhop to assist us immediately would have been appreciated, and I was hoping the resort might offer some type of upgrade or gesture for the inconvenience, but that wasn’t provided. “We had a wonderful short stay at the Belmond Maroma to celebrate our engagement. The staff and their service were top notch. In particular, Emanuel took great care of us. The spa was wonderful for both treatments and some time in the hot/cold plunges, steam and sauna. The restaurants were picturesque right on the beach - we particularly liked breakfast with the fresh juices of the day and daily changed pastries. “Rooms weren't super clean,noticeable marks on walls ,mirrors ect. The whole resort needed repairs and upkeep,pool tiles falling off,infinity pool not running,broken concrete,we ended up having to change rooms after 4 days we woke up to a leaking roof! The tub on our deck wouldn't stay full and the pump cover was open,deck blinds were broken, we had problems with the tv's in both rooms. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with amazing hospitality and treated like VIPs. “Lots of construction going on, which we understand is necessary, but the dining was a mess that week. Of the 4 main restaurants, most were closed they other night, some nights 3 of 4 were closed. Dunno if it was staffing issues or what, but definitely changed the experience. Thank goodness for 24 hr room service, which was ok overall but very slow, always an hour plus wait for dinner. ”

“It is a new construction, the room was amazing, really clean, with ocean view, the pool really nice. The only thing that it was a big minus is that the Wi-Fi wasn't working in our room, we notified the front desk clerk and went to our room to try to fix it but couldn't be fixed and in that area my phone didn't have good reception there, other than that it was great. ”

“We stayed for 9 nights and there was not a day without some kind of mistake or misunderstanding. The staff is very very polite and friendly, but they lack professionalism and training. Some servers in the restaurants don’t speak very good English, so that can be an area of improvement. The overall impression is that the whole operation is out of tune. Strong management and review of all aspects of operations is recommended. Alila is not on par with the rest of the Mayakoba hotels.”

We were a little disappointed in the view from our casita… it was supposed to be ocean and it was turned towards the pool. The spa was as great as I remember. The staff was always friendly and our pool bartender was the Bomb! The last 2 days of our stay they started construction on the casita next to us very early, waking us up.”
