We loved the house and its location. It was right on the beach with easy access. There were people on both sides of us each day on the beach, but it wasn’t overcrowded. Everyone we interacted with was very friendly and had good beach etiquette (i.e. not blasting music or smoking close by).
The sand was clear from heavy seaweed and the water was very clear. However, like all beaches, this could change with a bad storm, or some other uncontrollable event.
The beds and living room furniture was very comfortable. Kitchen was well appointed, and the cabinets were all in good condition. The icemaker was a very nice bonus.
Its proximity to the General Store was nice. You can get a good deal of basic supplies there including beer, wine, and liquor. We got pizza from the Shell station general store (not the one right by the house) and it was excellent! Got the thin crust and it was fine when we got it home. We did have to drive down there to order it though, but it only took 20 minutes.
Lots of good food in Port St. Joe. Sisters was our favorite. I highly recommend the filet, and it may have been the best one I’ve ever had. 3 of the 4 of us got it (based on one of our group getting it last year), and all 3 were perfect! You wouldn’t really expect it, as it doesn’t look like a steak house. All our food was very good. Great breakfast too.
A word of advice if spending any time on the deck at night… get some good no-see-um repellent. They ate me alive one night
The chairs and table on the deck were great and all high enough you could see over the rail. Sitting in low chairs and staring at the rail is the worst.
Overall, if the price is reasonable next year, we would book again
