Feels Like Home

We are repeat guests who (3 weeks this stay), upon driving to the Funchal airport, felt NOT like we were going “home” but, sadly, we were leaving what has become like home. We agree with all positive comments posted before us. Without question, the villa is everything it promises to be and more. But that is for you to discover, to make the experience your own. This seductive villa with spacious grounds and sweeping ocean views is truly a special private world by day. In darkness, it transforms into romantic solitude (particularly down by the clifftop crackling fire pit above crashing waves and beneath a multitude of stars) … your unseen world far from the tourist crowds. Yet, with a car, the hustle bustle of Funchal is a mere 20 minutes away. Periodic “road noise” complaints? Better to embrace things we are powerless to change? Those late-night sounds of a young motorcyclist accelerating joyfully around adrenalin-pumping curves conjure lost memories of our own wild youth. Some people allow periodic overhead aircraft arrivals to bother them. But what a lucky place to be that we can spot the “in-bound” coming from 10 minutes out at sea! As we would not be here in paradise without them, better to embrace those periodic 15-second interruptions that punctuate long periods of silence. Let them serve as reminders to keep looking up and out, and marvel at where we are privileged to be. Everything about this villa is rightfully in place. The place is what you make of it. Enjoy.

You will be glad you chose to stay here.

My wife is German. I am an American with permanent residency in Germany. We are frequent 4-star level international travelers who have seen “the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.” (“the Exceptional” is, perhaps, a bit more elusive.) Thanks largely to Tiago and his team, the experience of staying at this villa rated among the best experiences of our lives. This beautiful villa itself reflected much attention to detail. Likewise, so did Tiago and his staff. The accolades posted here by past guests are well deserved. But best to leave it to discover on your own. Suffice to say, you will enjoy being here very much. My only regret is that we did not stay longer… but we look forward to becoming regular guests.

Beautiful Home

Lovely home and grounds. Well appointed and clean. On some days aircraft traffic was very loud and beds were extremely firm. But the ocean breeze was delightful and it was a great jumping off point to other parts of the island. Convenient by the airport. The pool was quite refreshing.

Unglaublich schön

Das Haus entspricht voll und ganz der Beschreibung. Sehr sauber, geschmackvoll eingerichtet, toller Meerblick. Die Sauna mit großer Panoramascheibe Richtung Meer war unser persönliches Highlight. Sehr hilfreich war unser Ansprechpartner Tiago. Bereits vor Reiseantritt gab er uns eine Fülle von Tipps für Wanderungen und Restaurants. Frische Früchte, Wurst, Käse, Marmelade, Wein und Gebäck erwarteten uns bei der Ankunft. So ein tolles Wilkommenspaket hatten wir vorher noch nie. Das Haus liegt an der Hauptverkehrsstrasse und in der Einflugschneise des Flughafens und ist dementsprechend laut. Das sollte man vorher wissen. Wir wussten es und hatten uns dementsprechend darauf eingestellt. Daher 5 Sterne und nochmal ein riesengroßes Lob für Tiago.

Beautiful Property but be wary of the shortfalls.

The home is exceptional, very modern and well furnished. It has all the amenities as advertised and the manager is very helpful as is all of the staff we met. The welcoming package was appreciated As was the chocolates on departing. We were two couples and the property had everything we needed, however be mindful you are in a tropical country and we were inundated with ants. They sprayed the kitchen however they were everywhere and spread as the week went on. Also the beds are very firm and both couples found them very uncomfortable. The Vrbo, booking.com and the management advertised the wine cellar was accessible and a variety of wines were available for tasting. When we arrived we were told it was locked and not accessible, big disappointment given we rented the property on that pretext. The biggest surprise again not advertised is that the house is very near the landing location of the airport and every 15 minutes starting at 6:45 am to 11:45 pm. a plane lands. The noise is incredible and because there is no air conditioning it sounds like they are landing on the roof of the house. However if you can put up with the noise from the highway, the planes and the invasion of ants you will thoroughly enjoy this home. p.s. you will need a car and watch out for the first turn off of the main road,
