"Beautiful and charming nights stay in a room above the pub. Whilst it’s an olde worlde pub the rooms are very tastefully kitted out in a contemporary style. The Scottish manageress was absolutely delightful, engaging and made us feel so very welcome. The breakfast was delicious made from very good quality ingredients served by another delightful lady. We shall definitely return if ever in the area again. "

"We stayed here to climb Scafell Pike the next day. The staff were incredible friendly and helpful with great advice on the routes to take. The breakfast was delicious and exactly what we needed before the hike up the mountain. The location is absolutely stunning as well. Couldn't recommend more."

"First time I'd stayed at the Clifton and it was a lovely stay. Lovely welcome, lovely view across the bay from my bed, and nice and clean and comfortable. Would have liked a little lamp in my room instead of the big light, and the bathroom fan didnt work but other than that it was lovely. Breakfast was self service and it was lovely, the sausages were MASSIVE and the waiter brought coffee or tea as required. Would i stay again ? Yes, most definitely. I'm a Morecambe FC season ticket holder...

"This hotel scammed us. Despite booking and paying for a double room, they pretended Expedia had only booked a single…and said they had no rooms left. They told another couple arriving later the same evening the same lie. They had clearly rebooked our rooms as soon as they could charge a higher - peak season - rate. Appalling - no one should stay here!"

"Stayed here for two nights with my friend while hiking in the area. Friendly and lovely place. The hosts were so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was amazing, room was clean and comfortable with an amazing view over the garden and mountains beyond. Spent our evenings watching the red squirrels, birds, deer and badgers out of the bedroom window. Perfect place to use as a base or to spend time in the gardens.
