Wonderful mountain retreat

We fell in love with this property just based on the photos but once we were there, it was even more wonderful than we had hoped. It was beautiful, serene and welcoming. I am already looking for a way to book another stay. Thank you!

Stunning Property

We spent five glorious days in this magical villa in early September. The house is spacious, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. The grounds are absolutely stunning with numerous sitting areas and gardens. Communication with the owner and Eulalia, the property manager, was excellent. A bottle of wine and food essentials awaited us upon our arrival. We one hundred percent recommend this property.

Stunning!

We were a group of five friends and were unanimous about Casa Ginjeira - an outstanding and unique villa, which is far removed from the usual sterile places you can rent. Lots of personal touches, with flowers from the garden in many rooms, made the house seem more like a much loved home. We made good use of the beautiful and generous terrace and an equal amount of time in the fantastic swimming pool. Lots to see in the local area, we would very much like to return.

Stunning location, great pool and beatiful gardens!

The villa is in a fantastic location in the hills, peaceful with wonderful views. The pool area and pool house are wonderful and the villa largely had everything we needed. The majority of the main villa and pool house are very clean and tidy and nicely put together and have been recently renovated. The kitchen and living space are a little tired in places but we still had a great time relaxing and cooking as a family. Most of the pool furnature could do with replacing, im sure it gets a lot of use! We will 100% be back. Our only suggestion is the addition of a few more gates (at the end of the balcony, top of the stairs by the pool) as we wouldnt suggest it for toddlers, we had a 1 year old with us and we would wait til he was a little older to return.

Fantastisches Haus mit liebevoll angelegtem Grundstück

Ein Haus mit Pool und Poolhaus zum Wohlfühlen und Entspannen. Das liebevoll und mit vielen Ideen angelegte, terrassierte Grundstück ist der Hammer. Viele große und kleine Sitzplätze, Skulpturen, Wasserbecken und vielen Obstbäumen die auf dem gesamten, riesigen Grundstück verteilt sind.

Fantastisch

Een schitterend huis op een geweldige locatie. Het huis is ongelofelijk ruim en van alle gemakken voorzien. De tuin, die tegen de heuvel ligt, is enorm groot en blijft je dagelijks verrassen met haar diversiteit aan planten en bomen. Overal op het terrein zijn plekjes waar je kunt zitten en lezen of mijmeren, zowel rond het huis als in de grote tuin. Het zwembad is groot en zeer comfortabel. Dit is echt een plek om even los te komen van het drukke leven van alledag en volledig tot rust te komen.

Blissful haven

This is a unique, simply stunning property. It is one of those magical places that just makes you wish you could up sticks and spend the rest of your days there in serene, tranquil bliss! The owner could not have been more helpful from the initial communication to the lovely emails checking in on us to make sure we were happy. Not to mention the 25 pages of extremely useful information he sent before our arrival! Eulália, the property manager, had left us general helpings of all the essentials in the fridge, as well as a welcome bottle of wine. The house is equipped with everything. Eulália is a delightful lady with a can-do attitude who speaks perfect English and checked in on us the next day. Each room is beautifully furnished but in a loving, quirky rather than a sterile “Country Living magazine” kind of way. It is very obviously a family home with lovely touches everywhere. Most importantly, it is also extremely functional (sockets plentiful and in all the right places, lovely underfloor heating). We were also impressed with the environmentally conscious approach (it derives most of its electricity from its own solar panels, the pool is regulated with salt rather than chemicals etc). The Pool Cottage stole our hearts - maybe because the house seemed almost wasted on two people alone. The house would be a perfect setting for a reunion with everybody gathering by the pool but also able to enjoy private time in one of the property’s numerous lovely hideaways. Pure magic!

Sjarmerende hus i en enestående hage

Både huset og pool cottage var sjarmerende med et varmt og estetisk interiør. Kjøkkenet var velutstyrt, og supert med grillen ved bassengområdet. 3 av soverommene i hovedhuset var store og fine. Enkeltsengen på det ene soverommet var for kort til vår tenåring (175cm høy), så passer best til en som er lavere. Vifter i taket gjorde at det var svalt og deilig om natten. Men de som sov i Pool Cottage synes det var varmt om natten. Nå skal det også sies at det var varmt når vi var der, med dagtemperatur på 30-35 grader. Eiendommen har flere oppholdsplasser ute, og selv om vi var 10 stk, så var det enkelt å finne seg en plass å trekke seg tilbake å være alene. Det er en hage som innbyr til rekreasjon. Bassengområdet var helt supert med nok solsenger/stoler til alle. Hagen er helt fantastisk med mange spennende spiselige planter. Vi plukket appelsiner hver dag, og presset juice til frokost ☺️ Vi fant 2 matbutikker i sentrum med et helt ok utvalg av mat. Kunne nok ønsket oss et litt større sortiment. Anbefaler å ha bil i området. Det er få taxi og Uber var vanskelig å få tak i. Det tok ca 30 min å kjøre til et utvalg av mange fine strender, og er absolutt verdt en tur med de flotte klippende og forfriskende hav.

Casa Ginjeira in late May/June

We had a glorious 16 night stay in this beautiful, charming house with cleverly planted gardens and the best pool I have encountered. Oranges fresh from the garden made the sweetest, tastiest juice and there is spa water on tap. The surrounding wildlife is enchanting at all times of the day and night, and the local walks, particularly to the heights of Foia and Picota, were well worth the challenge for older legs, though you can drive up to Foia. Highly recommended if you enjoy, as we Londoners do, the chance to be close to nature in spacious, comfortable accommodation and also within reach (30-45 minutes by car) of some superb beaches on the South and West coasts. So much more to discover on our next trip.

Fabulous two week stay

The four of us had such a great stay at Casa Ginjeira. The villa was just as described if not better! If one got tired of sitting on the porch looking at the view and listening to the birds, there was always the well equipped kitchen or snuggling by the fire. We were fortunate to have delightful weather in February and even had a couple of dips in the great pool. Every day it seemed more leaves and flowers burst open. Coming from frozen Canada made it especially good. Are hosts made our arrival so generous and welcoming. Not only a bottle of wine but basics for breakfast. The caretaker, Eulália Was so available for our many questions and gave us great advice for local activities and food. There were some issues with wifi that Eulália was trying to sort out. Many thanks and we hope to return.

Stunning property

I cannot recommend this property highly enough. It is in a fantastic location - close to Monchique with restaurants in easy walking distance yet in the most peaceful and tranquil location with views down the mountain and out to the sea and coastal town. The house itself is packed with charm and character yet has all the amenities required for a fantastic holiday. The rooms are all well appointed with many leading out onto the stunning covered terrace. The grounds of the property are stunning, from the formal gardens in front of the house to the fruit tree covered terraces that follow on. The pool is an amazing area with yet another seating area with built in bbq area. We didn’t use the pool house as there were just two of us and our dog however it looked beautiful. It was a privilege to stay at the property and we hope to return in the near future with family.
