The Lodge- charming cottage on private country house estate

The Lodge is the former gatehouse to Spital House estate. It is all on one level and is bordered by woods on two sides and a large fully enclosed garden to the rear. There is an abundance of wildlife to see from the cottage and the fields to the rear have sheep, lambs and cows throughout the rear.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. Beds were excellent and we enjoyed a good night’s sleep. Parking was easy. Liz was very responsive to any questions we had. And the lounge was a perfect place to relax after a day out. We were only 2 but 4 people would be very comfortable. Jean

Wonderful
Fantastic stay in this beautiful lodge. The little gate house building was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Good location to get to the coast. Berwick upon Tweed was 10mins away and we went to Edinburgh on the train from there. Host came to say hi and pass on her info if we needed her but we were then left alone. Beautiful short break.

Good with some negative points
Everything there you need for a stay, everything works as it should. The fence is painted with tar so it smells not good if you sit outside. Inside theres a lot of room freshener which you have to love otherwise its uncomfortable. The WLAN was very good. Its a little bit old fashioned but clean and working. We felt a little bit disturbed by the loud lawn tractor that provided bad air when we were having breakfast on the terrace. A good point for starting to activities all aound the sorrounding area if you travel by car.

Lodge at Spittal House
We had a lovely stay at this Lodge very picturesque surroundings. The Lodge is very spacious. Very clean and is well equipped in the kitchen. Great base for exploring the surrounding areas.

Outstanding Little Gem
The owners of this property have thought of everything someone might need for a fantastic stay. We wanted a quiet getaway, which we got - and thoroughly enjoyed but we both commented that the location of the lodge is perfect for exploring the local area too. We couldn't fault the accommodation for anything, it's superb, well thought out, and highly recommended!

The Lodge
A special place. Surrounded by fields and woodland at the end of the drive of a grand house. Beautiful setting. Comfortable cottage well equipped.
