「Very nice people and lovely room!」

「The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Evening meal and breakfast were very good. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom could do with some updating. Several significant cracks in the walls and evidence of water leaks around the heated towel rail and over bath shower head was leaking water out when running the bath taps. We only had one night so not really an issue for us.」

There were limitations on what we could have both on the food and drink side due to delivery issues. 「What a terrific spot! The bar was comfy, and cosy; the room clean, and tastefully decorated with a comfy bed, and wonderful view of the viaduct and Whernside. And, the fish & chips - exceptional! For us, the staff made our stay, Will, Courtney, Angela, & Val, couldn't do enough for us, despite a very busy bank holiday weekend. 「Nice hotel, friendly staff. Dinner was good quality pub-grub and breakfast was excellent. Room was clean and very smart decor. Was a bit hot at night so perhaps air-con would have been nice, although there was a fan thankfully! Be aware that there is no car park at the hotel, although we got parked fine on the unrestricted side streets. Overall, nice hotel, would recommend.」

When I arrived at 8.30pm 25/5 the door was locked shut, the place was in darkness and a note attached to the door said to phone a mobile number to gain code keys and access BUT their number failed to ring. 「We were made to feel welcome on arrival, the pub is very old with plenty of character, the room was basic but adequate. The bar had a good choice of beers including reel ale. The breakfast was lovely.」
