Como Park Zoo and Conservatory showing modern architecture and a garden
There’s plenty to see and do at this public park, which incorporates a zoo, a conservatory, an amusement park, Lake Como, a golf course and a pool.

Spend the day exploring the exciting attractions of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. With hundreds of acres of rambling parkland, this urban park has a wide appeal as a place to bring the family or to enjoy some relaxing time to yourself. Check out the spacious lawns and captivating trails of Como Park or visit the animals at Como Zoo. The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory contains a spectacular collection of plants and artworks. Dating back to 1873, Como Park has long been a favored destination in St. Paul for recreation and relaxation.

Check out the art deco Zoological Building or make your way around the enclosures of Como Park Zoo. Spot animals from the African savannah, playful primates and creatures from the polar region. The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory showcases beautiful heritage glasshouses that shelter attractions such as the Sunken Garden, the Fern Room and an Orchid House.

Follow 2.3 miles (3.7-kilometers) of paved trails in Como Park on foot or by bike. Wind your way around the collection of public artworks and historic landmarks. Highlights include Cafesjian’s Carousel, the Frog Pond, a 1930s sundial, fountains, statues and scenic bridges. See if any local teams are playing on the sports fields or play a round on the 18-hole golf course. Take the kids for a splash at Como Pool or go on an exhilarating ride at the amusement park.

Make your way to the edge of Lake Como and stroll, jog or cycle around the paved path that loops the lake. Rent a canoe or a paddleboat and explore the scenic waters. Drop a line from the fishing pier. Find out what’s happening at the Lakeside Pavilion. This reconstruction of the original 1905 building contains restaurants and a venue that hosts live music performances throughout summer. If you’ve brought your own refreshments, take a seat at the picnic shelters and enjoy the view.

Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is a 15-minute drive northwest of St. Paul. There is an off-site parking lot at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds, which is served by a free shuttle to the park on weekends. The park is free to enter, however, some attractions may charge a small fee.
