Fort Augustus Bar Hotel

"Overall this was an excellent stay for us. On the first morning our shower flooded the bathroom floor because the drain was clogged, but they fixed it while we were out for the day. Other than that hiccup, it was a fantastic stay. We did the boat tour on the first day and it was fun, although cold out on the loch. Breakfast was very, very good. More choices than most hotels with fresh fruit and gluten free pancakes. I was grateful for those because I was getting tired of a Scottish breakfast. We also ate at the restaurant one night and the food was good. Everyone who was employed there was very friendly and polite. The location is excellent and convenient and there was plenty of parking. I would definitely stay here again. "

"The Lovat at Loch Ness is a charming and stylish lakeside hotel. The property has two lovely lounges, even a grand piano, and is equipped with an elevator — a thoughtful touch. Our room was spacious, bright, and very comfortable. Breakfast was a highlight: besides the classic Highland Breakfast, we tried the Kedgeree (smoked haddock with curried rice and poached egg), which was absolutely delicious and a wonderful Scottish surprise. The hotel’s location in Fort Augustus adds to the experience. The town itself is full of character, with the Caledonian Canal locks right at the center — watching the boats rise and fall is like a slow, graceful performance. We only stayed one night but wished we had stayed longer to enjoy the rhythm and atmosphere of this beautiful place."
