Cozy apartment in a heritage area in the center of Funchal. The Cathedral and Marina are 500 meters away, and the Plaza Madeira Shopping Center is 300 meters away. The Farmers' Market and Old Town are just a 15-minute walk away. The apartment features a fully equipped kitchen and high-speed WiFi throughout. Located in the parish of São Pedro, right in the heart of the city, it is one of the favourite areas to stay in Funchal.
This building has only two apartments, ensuring well-being, comfort, and tranquility. Both apartments can be rented simultaneously.
Upon request, parking can be secured in a nearby private garage (5-6 minutes walk), subject to availability.

Fantastic location near sea front, restaurants and supermarkets. Jorge was a brilliant host with excellent communication. The 2nd floor flat wasnt available due to a mix up but Jorge went the extra mile, offering us the flat below which we were very pleased with. Would definitely return.

Great location with easy walking access to the main sights and sea. Nice and clean. Small balcony with a table and chairs looking out on a great view. We cooked in a bit - the kitchen had all the utensils you'd need and a few basics e.g. olive oil

Remarkable Host and perfect Location for Funchal

Ein perfekter Standort um Funchal zu Fuß zu erforschen. Zentral und dennoch sehr ruhig. Das Flat ist großzügig geschnitten und mit Geschmack eingerichtet. Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt. Jorge ist ein wunderbarer Gastgeber. Er hat mich persönlich amn der Parkgarage abgeholt und mir viele tolle Tips gegeben. Und war jeden Tag bemüht, mir den Aufenthalt so komfortabel wie möglich zu gestalten. Vielen Dank dafür 🙏

Tolle Wohnung mitten in der Altstadt von Funchal

Wir (mein Mann, ich und unsere 13 Monate alte Tochter) verbrachten 4 Wochen in der schönen Unterkunft. Die Kommunikation mit Jorge vorab klappte Problemlos und er empfing uns direkt vor dem Haus um beim ausladen des Gepäcks zu helfen und uns den Parkplatz im Parkhaus zu zeigen (ca. 8 Gehminuten entfernt, direkt am Stadtpark). Die Unterkunft liegt an einer Werktags recht viel befahrenen Einbahnstrasse (Blick aus dem Schlafzimmer). Der Balkon und die Küche blicken auf einen ungenutzten Innenhof und dahinter lag eine Baustelle wo ein neues Haus errichtet wurde. Der Baustellenlärm hielt sich aber in Grenzen. Die Wohnung (Nr. 2 im obersten Stock) ist geräumig, sehr schön und stilvoll eingerichtet. In der Küche war alles vorhanden, wir haben nur noch einen Wäscheständer hinzu gekauft weil wir mit Kleinkind doch viel Wäsche hatten und die nicht auf den kleinen Wandhalter auf den Balkon ging. Jorge stellte uns ein Reisebett mit super süßer Kinderbettwäsche und auch Kapuzenhandtücher fürs Baby sowie einen Hochstuhl und Kindersicherung für die Steckdose zur Verfügung. Mehrere Wäschesets standen für unseren Aufenthalt zur Verfügung. Alle Fenster und auch die Balkontüre waren mit Moskitonetzen ausgestattet. Jorge besorgte auch ein paar Backwaren und Getränke für den ersten Hunger. Von der Wohnung aus ist eigentlich alles Sehenswerte in Funchal zu Fuß gut zu erreichen. Wir haben uns rundherum wohl gefühlt und konnten die 4 Wochen in vollen Zügen genießen.

Madeira kurz vor Corona

Die Wohnung ist sehr gemütlich, sauber und ist mit allem ausgestattet was man für einen gemütlichen Urlaub braucht. Morgens, wenn die Menschen zu Arbeit fahren hört man zwar die Autos die Einbahnstraße abwärts aber das ist kaum um wahrzunehmen. Für 2 Personen fanden wir die Wohnung optimal. Hervorragend fanden wir die extreme Professionalität des Vermieters kombiniert mit einer echten Freundlichkeit. Die Wohnung liegt zentral und in 5 Minuten zu Fuß ist man in der Stadtmitte. Da wir wegen Corona früher abfliegen mussten als geplant war, könnten wir uns gut vorstellen irgendwann wieder diese Wohnung zu buchen.

We've been living in Jorge's apartment for a bit over a month. We absolutely loved the place, the new furniture, the cooking utensils, the house appliances, pretty much everything was top notch. Jorge is a wonderful host. Very attentive, he reacted quickly to any our requests and questions. The apartment is located in a good district not far from the city's center. We would absolutely recommend this apartment to a family of two, or two grown-ups with a child.

Tasteful, small apartment for two

The Casa da Calçada is a wonderful rental in a perfect location. We enjoyed exploring Funchal and Madeira from here. Within a few minutes walking there is an abundance of restaurants, museums, shops, grocery stores and the Funchal port. If you, like us, prefer to be in an authentic neighborhood, you will surely like this apartment as well. We love the tasteful décor of the apartment, the well-equipped, tidy kitchen, the WiFi, all the International TV channels, the comfy beds, the closet space in the bedroom and the view of the mountain behind the city. The floors are beautifully maintained old parquet, which gives the whole apartment a warm look. Best of all, the host, Jorge, is really lovely, welcoming, attentive and professional. We came to the island thinking we’d probably stay a week, but extended our time, both because we so enjoyed spending time in Funchal and Madeira, but also because we were comfortable in the apartment. Good to know for folks who have trouble walking: The apartment is on the second floor, but stairs are wide and have a rail. Some of the streets around here are a bit steep and are often cobblestone. For those of average fitness, it should be no problem at all. (We are a middle-aged Swiss-American couple) We both heartily recommend Jorge’s rental at the Casa da Calçada.
