「Quite possibly the best impromptu stop my husband and I have ever made! Everything was incredibly clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. Breakfast was even more enjoyable with the beautiful view.We loved taking in the beautifully decorated rooms and especially enjoyed cozying up by all the fireplaces. The entire stay was so peaceful and relaxing—it was the perfect place to get away and unwind. We’re already planning our return!」

「We were in a king room, first floor and I can’t tell you how dirty the floor was. We couldn’t tell at first but a little bit of water got on the floor and I grabbed a few tissues to wipe it up and it was filthy! Very disappointed in our stay as a whole. Definitely will never stay in a Holiday Inn Express again.」

「Interior of cabin was nice. Lost power 2x in 2 days, once was for 6hrs. 1 window A/C unit for entire cabin; rooms were hot. For 100 degrees days, 1 window a/c unit for a whole cabin is not even close to efficient or comfortable. We will not be getting a cabin again.」

「Comfortable beds. Slept great.」

「Our family of 6 (age range 20’s to 80’s) enjoyed all of the rooms and porches. The air conditioners kept the home comfortable and the porches were cozy for those who like it warmer. We liked the convenience of being able to make our own breakfasts and dinners here. Having a grill was a bonus.」

「Very clean, comfortable accommodations. Being just Highway 17 makes it convenient. Lovely subdivision.」

「This house is quirky and wonderful. We loved the old part of the house, complete with a small boat in the living room ceiling! Wonderful things to look at all over the house. The new part of the house has large windows and doors for viewing the York River as the tide ebbs and flows. We loved watching the birds fish for their dinner. We had a snowy egret and a blue heron as well as many other birds. The crabs were fun to watch pop in and out of their tunnels. The kitchen has every appliance and...

「Great property and look forward to hopefully staying again in the future!」

「John and Sherri were gracious hosts, and meticulously historically accurate in restoring the cottage. The dock, river, ability to launch our kayaks from the floating dock combined with the well stocked cottage made our stay a true respite from our care giving roles. A true Gem!」

「So the parking was a bit hard to find because it was down a side alleyway. When we got inside, none of the beds had sheets on them and the linens in the dryer were still a bit damp. I texted the host but got no response. There was brown stains on the memory foam mat in the kitchen and spider webs in the bathroom that we had to clean. I later called the host because the WiFi password wasn’t listed in the welcome book as written in the Evolve email. You cannot access the bedroom TV at the same...

「We had a wonderful stay on the York River and would definitely recommend this house! It was clean, spacious, and exactly as described. The well-equipped kitchen, plenty of room to spread out, and three full bathrooms worked perfectly for our group of five adults. The fenced yard was also a huge bonus for our dog.We especially enjoyed the easy access to the river during the hot weather. The two kayaks, one canoe, and variety of life jackets made it easy to get out on the water, and the views from...

「Wonderfully relaxing home with fantastic water views from the sunroom, kitchen, dining table, screened porch & all around. Very nice neighborhood and the Host was great at checking in on us during a storm & for trash pickup (we were there 11 nights!). Highly recommend!」

「This is a very comfortable clean home in a nice quiet neighborhood. It’s very close to some excellent restaurants and places of interest. We especially enjoyed the sunroom.」

「Property and water were very peaceful. There are plenty of things to keep everyone entertained!」

「I have to say that I was disappointed with the lack of cleanliness of the house. I realize that it is a very large house, but all the same, it should have been cleaned and maintained better for a short-term rental. The owner only supplied one old bath towel and one cheap new wash clothe per guest. No hand towels were initially provided. I contacted the owner and she had towel sent very quickly. The rugs did not look vacuumed, the bathroom rugs were dirty, the shower curtains were mildewed, and...
