“The place is an ancient inn in a wonderful spot of the countryside. Perfect for trips along Hadrian's wall or nice walks in the fields. No restaurants in the area except the inn's one, where it's possibile to eat until 8.30 pm. Excellent beer until late. The toilet area is really tiny, but the rooms are lovely.”

“A last-minute decision for us to stay having booked to eat in the restaurant and we weren't disappointed. Our room was spotlessly clean and more spacious than expected. We needed to look for someone in order to check in but in all other respects the staff were very welcoming and attentive.”

“A very clean and comfortable place. The rooms were very nice and the beds quite comfortable. The bathrooms were up to date and there was plenty of hot water. The pub next door was very hand for a drink and breakfast in the morning. Very friendly staff. ”

“As a hiker on the Hadrians Wall trail, this venue had everything; good food, good beer and a good drying room. After a wet walk this was most welcome. This place was very convenient on the Wall trail and would highly recommend. ”

“We were a couple, staying over for 1 night after a day at Hexham races. The check in was great, very easy and straight forward. We were shown to our room by the lady owner (sorry I can't remember your name) who was very friendly and helpful. The room was large, with an area to sit, a huge bed and a big en-suite. We had lunch in the bar downstairs which was a toastie and chunky chips for £8.95, excellent value. The breakfast was good the next day, a cooked breakfast to order and cereal, fruit,……

“Absolutely amazing 3 night stay. Lovely village, lovely warm welcome, lovely couple who run the sun inn and they couldnt do enough for you to make sure our stay was comfortable and fantastic. Very dog friendly which was fantastic too. We had meals every night here at the sun inn as the food was fantastic. Yes limited menu, but we always found something tasty to order. They do fantastic sunday roasts too. Owners are italian, and the italian food as well as english food on the menu were super……
