It was easy access from Heathrow airport to Russell Square. No transfers. A few stairs to navigate at Russell Square but a lift to the exit and a short walk to the hotel. Enjoyed.

The people at the desk, dining room, and those who cleaned my room were wonderful, but I didn't like the way I saw them treated by their supervisors at times. I didn't read the fine print, I guess, but the Continental breakfast cost 19 pounds, I believe, and it cost even more to have things like fried and scrambled eggs. The next time I visit London I'll stay at a cheaper hotel with (I hope) a more relaxed atmosphere.

We discovered that the room was in the basement, although this was not specified when we booked. One window had no curtains. The air conditioning was very noisy and impossible to turn off. The staff could do nothing. The bathroom was full of mould and the carpet was stained.

Our stay at the Grange Beauchamp was excellent! The location couldn’t be better! It is within a 5 minute walk to Russel Square Station on the Piccadilly Line, and a 5-7 minute walk to Holborn Station which has access to the Piccadilly and Central lines for the Tube. It is quiet, and safe, with parks close by, and right around the corner from The British Museum! The staff were lovely and helpful. They were always smiling and welcoming. Our room was very large, which was perfect for two adults and two teens. We didn’t feel like we were cramped and on top of each other. Our room was very clean and in good shape, with normal wear and tear. Best of all, it was cool because of the Air Conditioning! The room could have used a dresser for storage, though there were two closets for our things. We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more.

Location worked well for our purpose. Transportation, dining, and more, were easily accessible. The kitchen/restaurant staff were friendly and helpful, going beyond regular service to help during our stay. Room electrical outlets/switches were odd and took some effort to see what works and what didn’t. During our first day we kept hearing a rather loud, annoying motor or fan-type noise. Turned out it was a hotel hair dryer that was hooked up in the drawer that was randomly turning itself on. How or why it went unnoticed by cleaning staff was odd. Otherwise only noises were primarily from floor above where we could hear others walking around.

It's a great price for a great location, if you're looking for a cheap and safe place to stay. The actual rooms are a bit dusty and water-stained, showing their age, but if you're just looking for a place to sleep and store your stuff while you explore the city it's absolutely fine and I would book it again.

Ideal Location

The hotel sits in a quiet street just off Russell Sq and is within walking distance of the British Museum, Soho, and lots of local cafés. Our room could have done with some redecoration but the hotel is perfectly adequate for a short stay.
