Overall, it is great for a large family. Plenty of room for our family to spread out and sleep well. Convenient to beach and grocery. Ice cream shop almost next door. Really tasty. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the refrigerator to a larger unit. The home is large, but we had issues with freezer space. Also, have maintenance come in and check appliances, etc. We had to buy ice bc only one small ice machine was operable. Overall, we had a good trip and made many great memories.

Family friendly house in Destin

Our stay at the Gray Whale was perfect! We had a large group of family from grandparents all the way down to a baby, and it worked for everyone! The location was perfectly situated right across from a beach access, and the large amount of rooms and bathrooms made it feel like we all had room to spread out. But the highlight of this house is for sure the backyard! We spent hours in the pool, playing cornhole, using the putting green and watching the NBA finals on the backyard TV. The property management company was so responsive and helpful and even stopped by to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Very friendly and easy to work with! We also loved the 1:30 check in time. We will definitely be booking this house again when we come back to Destin next summer.

End of year trip

Mid winter get away

The house was just as advertised. We did have trouble with the pool/ hot tub heater after 2 people were sent out to look at it it still wasn’t heating properly. Eventually it got there the kids enjoyed the pool regardless of it being cold

Hurricane wedding

We absolutely loved the house! It accommodated all of our guests so well and had plenty of room! We had some issues with the elevator which was medically necessary for some of our guests but every time we called they were able to get it fixed! I do think the amount of towels and hand towels was not nearly enough for the size of the house, there were lots of people who either didn’t get towels in their room or had no washcloths. The only other thing was the cleanliness of the home. The floors were not cleaned and there were stains on some of the rugs in the room and possible vomit in some of the showers on the walls. The backyard was everything and more. We had our wedding reception and it was absolutely beautiful! Again we had some issues with the pool lights but maintenance was able to fix it and had them on all night for us. Other than the cleaning and amount of towels everything else was perfect.

Great location, big house, great for kids.

The property is as advertised. It's large, has a great game room the kids enjoyed, large pool with a very large spa connected to the pool. It's literally a 5 min walk to the beach, just across the street. Limited access beach and we had 2 chairs reserved for us, brought lots more ourselves of course. We had 20 people in the house, several couples and kids and it worked great. It was over Labor Day weekend 2024 so a busy time of year. I do want to comment that while the house is well stocked with dishes and appliances, there were no basic condiments, not a huge issue, but usually we expect salt, pepper, some cooking oil etc. Not enough garbage bag, paper towels dish detergent, or dishwasher pods for a 20 person group, we had to buy some of our own. The fire pit did not work and the maintenance person they sent said it hasn't been working for some time. Disappointing as it was something we did want to use. The biggest challenge we had was the 'spam' the company kept sending. I don't mind getting offers for things I may want to use on the trip, but they sent that offer several times over email. When I opted out, they started sending them over VRBO. VRBO should block these types of messages. It was several per day at times leading up to our stay. Overall this is a great property, the management team communicated well, sent people out when needed. Location is awesome and we had a great time.

For the most part everything was great. Stove could use fixed up and another fridge would be great. Stationary switches for the fans would be great since some were missing. Grill got fixed so that was nice.

House is in a great location, but we were a little disappointed

the home was mostly "as advertised", however it is definitely in need of some repairs and maintenance. All of the walls needed to be painted (not a big deal but it set a first impression that was backed up as we explored the home). Gray Whale Family Vacay 2023

This was our first visit to Destin and even though I had great communication with the managing company prior to the visit, I just hoped that the property would meet the needs of a group of 19. It went above and beyond. Great location; very clean; beautiful kitchen; the elevator was a lifesaver (we had older adults w/ bad knees/backs) and very near the beach. The view from the top balcony and the kitchen was breathtaking. The street in front was a little busy but that just means that you are close to everything. There is literally a souvenir shop a few steps away; ice cream is only a few steps away; and there is a Winn Dixie and Wal-Mart very close by for your grocery needs. It is also located a very short drive away from the Outlet Mall. The backyard w/ the pool is very private which we loved. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils/supplies (there is a Keurig and regular coffee pots). If you like to use dish towels, however, I suggest bringing some along. The washer and dryer is awesome (we did bring along our own detergent and dryer sheets - baskets are provided). There are plenty of bathrooms, bedrooms, and closets. There are towels provided in each bathroom but if you use a lot of towels I recommend bringing a few extra along as well as an extra blanket if you are going to utilize the pull out sofas. The sheets/pillows are provided. We had one minor issue w/ grill - contacted mgmt and they sent someone out right away. 10/10 would stay again.

This was a great place to host my mother’s 80th birthday.

The property suited all of our needs. The booking process was easy and the Beach Reunion management group was very helpful throughout the process. The elevator was a must with over 1/2 of my guest over the age of 65, luggage & bringing groceries to the 3rd floor kitchen. This was an added expense, but well worth it. The outdoor furniture & grill wasn’t clean as much as I would like it, so we bleached and cleaned it ourselves. Also the living room furniture could use a little cleaning. The location was a short 2 min walk to the beach. The only thing that I didn’t read clearly was finding out that there was an extra charge to have the heated feature for the pool & spa to be activated from May-Sept. My family really enjoyed this location and it was more than enough space for our 16 guest. I would recommend this place to anyone with large group.

Awesome stay!

Everyone in our party enjoyed their stay. The house sleeps 32 ppl and we fit all 32 comfortable. Very close to shopping centers and outlets. Close drive to boat rental for crab Island. House had plenty of cooking pots and utensils. Kids and the adults loved the pac-man arcade in the game room. Short walk to the public side beach and pampanos joes. Plenty of pool toys n floats in the Shedd. We all had a great time sitting around the fire just cutting up. House had a few bikes for use. Was a little warm down stairs but had a couple of fans in closets. Could have used a few extra blankets and pillows. No doubt we will be returning in the near future.

Family Reunion

The property is nice but lacked the work of keeping items in proper condition. We had several days when the elevator was not working, a bathroom sink leaking, an unclean grill, and old rusty bikes with flat tires. However, the property management team was quick to respond to these issues. In my opinion, if housekeeping was thoroughly checked before guests arrived, the entire stay would have been much better.

Family and Friend Getaway
