The staff was very kind and helpful. They brought us extra towels and were always very courteous to engage with in the hallways and elevators. Check in/out was a breeze. The property itself is where we had issues. While the main lobby is lovely, the room itself was extremely worn. The good: clean linens on the beds, neatly made so we felt comfortable that the room wasn’t necessarily “dirty” just worn and perhaps not maintained. Toilet and sink were clean and bathroom had neatly display fresh towels as one would expect. The not so great: Cracked and peeling paint everywhere, very dirty walls, poor caulking job all through the bathroom so there would be grey caulk spread over the tiles and the caulking would have dust and dirt collected on it. Many spots the caulking was worn off or grout was chipped and so much mold in the shower. The blinds were extremely ripped on the edges, seemingly because they were too large for the windows. A safety concern was that most of the electrical outlets were very loose and falling out from the walls, sometimes drywall missing. The last part is very subjective because of location, but the walls seemed to be paper thin. We could hear EVERYTHING on Times Square from our room, but couldn’t hear Times Square from the hallway. The windows leaked a lot of cold air leading us to believe that the windows were a part of the reason the noise level was so intense. Overall, we were comfortable in the hotel, but the property itself could use some TLC.

I would highly recommend finding an alternative hotel. The rooms were very dirty, the bathroom walls had not been cleaned and the entire restroom smelled of urine. The metal beds were cheap and shook when you adjusted. The mattress and pillows were also very low quality. The blinds were filthy and had electrical tape on tears, and the windows were also covered with electrical tape to seal or cover openings. This was among the dirtiest and most unkept hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Also told by hotel desk staff that we could check out a day early without penalty only to find they had charged us the full amount the day before we even arrived and then would not respond to Expedia’s requests for resolution. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE.

I'm not one to write bad reviews but don't waste your money. Extremely small and not as its shown in their pictures. The lobby is the nicest things in the whole building. My daughter and I barely fit into the elevator together and it was just us, each with one bag. THE BED omg horrible. I've slept on pull out couches better. New York is known for small spaces but this was outlandish. I've stayed in this area many times and I've never had a bad experience. There was one person at checkin/check out and the process was so slow but nothing was explained about the property or "amenities" just printing, payment and key cards handed. 0 stars all the way around

My stay at OYO Times Square was… an experience. First challenge: calling the hotel. The number connects to an automated system that repeatedly drops the call, so if you enjoy phone tag with robots, you’re in luck. Next up: parking. It’s not included and costs $40 USD per night located about a 10-minute walk away. There’s also no loading area, so be prepared to drag your luggage through Times Square like you’re training for the Amazing Race. Our first room had a window duct taped shut and no heat, which made it feel more like a walk-in freezer than a hotel room. We were moved to another room where the window was also taped shut (apparently a theme), but at least the heat worked. The shower was a gamble every time — it alternated between scalding hot and barely warm, with almost no water pressure. Think “spa day,” but if the spa was broken. There was also a deposit surprise. I was told it would be $100 per night, but was charged $600 for a 3-night stay. I was promised the difference would be refunded after checkout, but even the day after leaving, it still hadn’t been returned and I am still yet to recieve any communications back regarding this issue. To be fair, the mattress was comfortable. Unfortunately, the pillows were flatter than a pancake and the towels were tiny and scratchy. I understand this is a budget hotel, but some basic things — working heat, functioning showers, and clear pricing — shouldn’t be luxury amenities.

The first room had a broken tv, door, and bed. We requested a room change to the second room having a broken bed and fan in the bathroom. We could hear the NYC life as if we were outside. No insulation between us and the outside world. Not worth the price per night.
