Centro Storico

Step into Palermo's Centro Storico where ancient streets reveal Sicily's layered past. Norman Palace stands proudly with its golden Byzantine mosaics shimmering in the Palatine Chapel. Medieval churches showcase Arab-Norman fusion architecture while vibrant markets pulse with local life. The honey-colored limestone buildings create an intimate atmosphere throughout this historic district. Wander through Ballarò and Vucciria markets to sample authentic Sicilian street food. This walkable area offers a genuine glimpse into Sicily's unique cultural heritage.

Step into Palermo's ancient soul in Kalsa, where Arab, Norman, and Sicilian cultures blend across honey-colored streets. The neighborhood's medieval charm reveals itself through weathered limestone buildings and wrought-iron balconies. Liberty-style architecture adorns the tree-lined Via della Libertà, where designer boutiques and upscale cafés create a sophisticated atmosphere. Art Nouveau details grace the historic facades. Upscale restaurants serve refined Sicilian cuisine while the evening scene revolves around theatre performances and wine bars. The area offers excellent bus connectivity and high walkability with wide, comfortable pavements.

Castellammare Vucciria

Castellammare Vucciria captivates visitors with its historic market that has defined Palermo for centuries. Narrow medieval alleys bustle with vendors selling fresh seafood, blood oranges, and authentic Sicilian street food. The neighborhood's honey-colored buildings and wrought-iron balconies create a distinctly traditional atmosphere. This cultural enclave offers glimpses into genuine Sicilian life beyond the market stalls. Ancient churches like Santa Maria della Gancia stand beside traditional puppet theatres showcasing local artistry. The area's pedestrian-friendly streets make exploring easy despite uneven cobblestones. Palermo Harbour sits just steps away for scenic waterfront views.

Palermo Historical Center

Palermo Historical Centre captivates with its rich UNESCO treasures spanning Arab-Norman, Baroque, and Renaissance periods. Byzantine mosaics glitter inside the Norman Palace while the cathedral's towers reach skyward. Ancient markets pulse between medieval churches, creating a sensory adventure of sights and smells. "So after arriving from A 24 hr travel to get there, we just wanted to get to our room which was a beautiful kingsize bed and view of the water….We were asked over and over if we wanted to see the junior suit. We said sure but was not told the price…when we saw our room originally we loved it… then she brought us to see the upgrade room and continued to say we can do it for 500 more… I told my husband something is up… it can’t be… I said no at first and she kept saying only 500 more and we said ok fine… we signed that it was 500 more for the up grade. We were tired and got in very late and were hungry so we wanted to begin our vacation. I in the back of my mind thought wow this is amazing but something is up. When we checked out we were slapped with a bill of DOUBLE THE AMOUNT WE ORIGINALLY HAD! So we told them we would have Never of upgraded in the first place but she told us 500 more. We went back and forth and even though after MUCH EMBARRASSMENT WE PAID 500 a night..1500more which we should have never accepted but at this point we had to settle up and needed to leave. The paper at the bottom we signed said small letters AMOUNT ONTOP OF…the price looked the same as the original with 500 more. VERY deceiving …We were taken advantage of. I should have filmed her saying over and over only 500 more. Also just should have stuck to my gut and said NO!"

"The staff at this hotel are amazing, all of them: receptionists, cleaning ladies, restaurant staff, pool staff and caretakers. They are helpful, efficient and just lovely people. The room was clean, spacious and had all we needed. The food and drinks were good and reasonably priced. There is plenty on site parking and the beach is few blocks away. There are very good restaurants, ice-cream and supermarket nearby. The beach itself was like a huge swimming pool with clear blue/green water. There is also a transfer from near the hotel to the airport that cost only €6/person. If I return to Sicily, I'll definitely stay at the Conchiglia D'Oro again."

Quintocanto Hotel and Spa

10/10 Excellent
"We stayed here for a week during the Santa Rosalia festival and it was excellent. We were right in the city centre. We asked for a quiet room and found ourselves at the back of the hotel which suited us perfectly as there was zero noise. The cathedral is a 5 .invite walk up the hill as was the palace. The lift takes you to the first floor. You walk along the corridor to another lift which takes you to the rest of the floors. Quirky but loved it. Breakfast is from 7-10, it's the same selection every morning but sets you up for the day. The food in the restaurant is excellent and couldn't fault it. Would I stay here again, definitely. Already thinking about a return visit when it's a little cooler, we had 34° just about every day during our stay. The photos are the views from our room window."

"The hotel has a beautiful view and is located in a lovely, peaceful area of Palermo, about 15–20 minutes from the town centre. It features a nice outdoor swimming pool, and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The only aspect that could be improved is the breakfast, which is quite basic. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place if you prefer a quiet stay away from the busy city centre and want to enjoy stunning views."
