There are many breweries and restaurants within a very easy drive. "We stayed in excellent VRBO rentals before. Only problem was garbage from previous rentals had never been removed from property. As snow melted we found an old cigar but on deck as well as dog poop. Which we picked up ourselves. The were many different conflicting instructions on what not to do and what to do in regards to heat, water, dishwasher (there is no dishwasher), but there were pods for one? Otherwise, we had fun. "3 families enjoyed our stay at the Tree House! The lay out of the house made it very comfortable for our families to have privacy and plenty of space, while still joining together for meals, games, etc. The kitchen was well stocked. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the pans, etc. We skied and went tubing at Gunstock Mountain. We also went to the Ice Castles in North Woodstock. "The cabin, property and pond have several highlights. The cabin is located on a very quiet road which we found very pleasant. Nice walks up the road with our children. We met some of the neighbors who were very friendly. It has a good beach with space to spread out, even with the high water this year. Small set of stairs from the lawn to the beach. "This vacation was my way of celebrating my 50 th birthday w/ my family. The location was secluded enough to not hear traffic but very close to stores, restaurants, hiking trails & golf courses. The house had everything we needed to cook , it was very clean and spacious. The fire pit and beach were great. We all agreed it was special enough to come back."

My husband loved kayaking in the lake. It is definietly set in the country but that what exactly what we were looking for.
