Enjoyed the Surf Shack

Great location next to the pier. Easy walk to numerous restaurants. Very nice swimming pool. Lots of free parking off street. Very comfortable.

Great location but more attention to details would make 5*

Fabulous location, family had great time. Pros: comfy beds, soft cotton sheets, TONS of beach towels, stellar location to beach & main drag of cute downtown SC, highly walkable & next to Casa Romantica & to free trolley, gorgeous view, comfy leather furniture in living room, well stocked dishes/glasses, great pool/hot tub! Cons: host scared us by not reaching out with check-in details, we were working with VRBO to book something else due to no contact, highly stressful, then my husband tracked host down on LinkedIn & said we were preparing to file a claim with VRBO, suddenly we get an email from him with instructions & he states he “doesn’t read emails”…ummm, I think a “Superhost” should check communication channels & know when guests are arriving. It was a total nightmare to think our family of 5 might have nowhere to stay. I was sure we’d been shafted when I saw host had multiple listings for same property “Surf Shack” & “Crypto Crib”…happily he somewhat redeemed himself by giving us 2 hour later checkout. Small details add up that would make this property a 5 star…no working smoke detectors, no kitchen towels just paper towels, ripped bed skirt, checkout instructions buried in tons of paperwork on bulletin board, no soap pump for master bath ( I bought one) just keeping up on supplies such as dishwasher tablets ( I bought some)etc.

We had a great stay at the Surf Shack. Arrival instructions were detailed and easy to follow. The condo had everything we needed. We felt at home. Location is perfect with the pier & beach just a walk down the hill,and a trolley stop steps away from the exit of the building.The host is very responsive and helpful. I'll miss having my coffee on the balcony overlooking the pier..

The view from the balcony...wow!! It alone was worth the stay. ;) We had an amazing time at the Surf Shack. The home was clean and had everything that we needed for our trip. The proximity to the beach and the pier was unbeatable and the onsite pool and hot tub were such a nice bonus! We really appreciated our time there and would definitely stay again. Kimberly P.

Pleasant stay

Overall nice location and condo. It was very clean and modern. The kids complained about no locks on the bathroom doors but other than that, we were happy with it and would recommend it to others.

Great location, def not child safe, owner doesn’t respond

The location is great and the condo is nice, but the owner doesn’t respond to texts. It is very dangerous for young kids with a railing on the balcony with a large gap at the bottom. There is also a gate to get in the condo that locks you in, not great in an emergency. The condo was also not stocked with toilet paper, dishwashing and laundry detergent and the dryer sounds like it may fall through the floor. It was nice to be close to town and the beach but wouldn’t rent it again.

Perfect Location

This condo is at the perfect location. Beautiful views, walk to the beach, restaurants, coffee shop, pier, etc. My wife is from CA and we’ve been coming to San Clemente for years and love everything about this beach town! The condo is set up nice and is the perfect crash pad for your adventures. My only critique is the place needs a bit of attention. Nothing huge but quite a few little things. The carpet in the master bedroom needs replaced and all the bedding needs replaced as it’s just not what I would expect from a premium property. I’d rent it again but with hopes that the furnishings had been updated a bit. Owners were awesome and very communicative! Overall amazing property!

Better than expected

The moment you walk through the front door you absolutely know you have been transported to your vacation spot! The gleaming water through the expansive sliding glass doors welcomes you and the climate here is absolutely perfect! The condo is thoroughly as described and even better. It was much more spacious than we had anticipated and fully accommodated the flexibility we needed in sleeping for our family. It allowed for a great family time with lots of open spaces but also creative ways to close off rooms so that people could sleep in or read quietly. The condo community is welcoming and varied there are families, elderly people and everything in between. The community in San Clemente pier neighborhoods is welcoming and absolutely provides everything you would need on a vacation. The restaurants are top-notch and we never once felt unsafe or at risk. I have absolutely nothing negative to say and we positively cannot wait to return! The only small recommendation I would make would be for the owners to consider safety proofing the balcony bars for children under the age of five, making the property even more marketable The owners were a delight and so was this beautiful condo! We look forward to returning and sending family here as well. Thank you Kings💫

Amazing View !!

We had a great stay at the Surf Shack. Tony greeted us with a text upon our landing at the airport so we had his number should we need anything. Everything was perfect though, we never needed to contact him . Property is exactly as described. Beautiful view of the ocean from the living room , plenty of room for a family . Just a short walk to the beach , and places do eat . Great location if you want to do things All around California . During our week stay , we traveled North to LA to see the Hollywood Sign and Universal Studios , South to San Diego where we toured the USS Midway, East to Skull Canyon to go zip lining , even hit a comedy club in Irvine . In between we enjoyed the pool, hot tub and the beach . It was a perfect stay !

Some of the best views in San Clemente

We've stayed at a number of different places in San Clemente over the past 3 years. This is the best view we've had. Todd's place fit are needs so well, we are coming back in May!! 3 minute walk to the pier. 5 minute walk to the bars/restaurants/shops on Del Mar Ave. Underground private parking too. Todd was available and quick to respond to questions we had. Looking forward to coming back in May!

Stunning View

We recently moved away from this area so knew how perfect the location of this condo would be. It was such an easy walk to one of our favorite eating and shopping streets in OC, and just as easy to stroll down to the beach. We were so busy trying to see all of our friends in the area that I kept wishing I had an extra day booked just to sit on the balcony and really enjoy the view. It was beautiful. We could see dolphins in the morning, and one afternoon saw whales fluking. The kind bed was comfortable with nice linens. My daughter ended up not sleeping in the bunk room but instead on the sleeper sofa, and she said it was comfortable as well. The owner was very responsive. We would definitely enjoy staying here again.

Excellent Condo

We were very happy with our stay here. The condo is very clean and the view is amazing. There is a large deck that overlooks the pier and an expansive view of the ocean. You can see both sunrises and sunsets. The doors leading to the deck open wide to open up the living room to the deck. The location is perfect with dozens of restaurants and shops within a few blocks walk so we never had to drive to dinner. The pier is a short walk down the hill from the condo and there are multiple good restaurants there. The internet & appliances worked well and the furniture was comfortable. Communication with the owner was very good. We really can't say enough good things about this property and hope we will get the opportunity to return one day.

Just as pictured

Everything in the rental was just as pictured on VRBO. It was a short walk down to the ocean and the pier so the location was great. Owner was accessible and easy to work with and even mailed my son‘s AirPods to him after he left them at the property. I would stay here again!
