“Agree entirely with a previous review. Not an hotel, just a B&B with bar and a very limited menu. The proprietess wanted to talk at us. The son, considerably older than 21, came up to us in the bar and said his mother would be with us soon to serve us drinks. Clearly he was not authorized to. Why? So we waited another 5 --10 mins for her to appear. No hot water in room - neither shower nor wash basin. Reactions were "we know one of the hot water timers is faulty, but it's nearly time for annual……

“The Lodge itself was beautiful and comfortable ideal for a family or couple with a dog, 2 bathrooms, washing machine, and so spacious!... the views of Milbrook and Plymouth from Lodge 23 are astounding. A great place to relax. Although pet friendly, I think if you own just one, well behaved dog he or she should be allowed off-lead and monitored closely...but it's a no, I understand why, but my dog is a registered working dog and it was her holiday too. Maybe a dog area should be considered……

“james very friendly, check in was very fast and clear, and provided breakfast ,room was very clean and bed very comfortable, bathroom looked new and like have been refurbished, room furnished with the ingenuity of the owner, it’s great location to stay ,few minutes walk to near the sea , highly recommend staying here. and very quiet at night!”

“An amazing breakfast. Lovely staff and great location near the Barbican. We’ll definitely be back again. ”

“Room was very untidy. Found an old sock behind the curtains which looked like they had been there a while. Stains on the carpet and the chair at the end of the bed. The noise is awful on the main road outside of my room which kept me awake through the night. Parking fills up very quick as well if you arrive later.”

“The hotel was exactly as described in photos. Clean, classy and very good value for money. We couldn’t hear any guests within property. Shower was powerful and nice and bathroom was clean. Bed comfortable, duvet thick but airy which was the perfect combo. Outside space from the room was well presents and clean. No bad smell and easy check in. Only thing I would critique is we couldn’t open window wide enough for our personal choice and could do with curtains as well blinds as that morning sun……

“The bed was firm & comfortable, and the shower was good and hot. There was a good selection at breakfast - nice breads, well-cooked hot food, and a reasonable range of healthy options. Everything was very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only downsides were noise related: the bedroom windows could have done with another layer of glazing as there was quite a lot of activity going on outside at times overnight - luckily I had earplugs - and the music was really far too loud……

“The parking was good at the hotel and only £10 a night. The hotel is lovely, good breakfast, bar open till 02:00, rooms very comfortable. Would recommend staying here and close to the city centre.”
