“The Dillard House holds sweet memories for us. With the massive beautification and updates, it is even more inviting. The prices, of course, have jumped tremendously, so a short stay is more efficient, but the Dillard House has a certain air of love. The breakfast too was amazing, but how many people eat $27 for breakfast? Again sitting in the dining room a peace and comfort of a cozy era comes to mind.”

“Very quaint, nice and friendly hosts and we loved sleeping by the waterfall , oh and the breakfast was awesome!!!”

“You could not ask for better accommodations a more comfortable room or a more pleasant stay you owe it to yourself to make your next stay in the Clayton area at this motel you will do yourself a disservice if you stay anywhere else”

“This is a beautiful property and so dog friendly! I loved it!”

“The main inn is charming. The bunkhouse is a different story, and the gap between the two is wide enough that I felt misled by the photos used to sell the property. The room is tiny. Just know a king bed takes up almost all of the floor space, and the only other furniture are small nightstands, a luggage rack, a folding chair, and a closet with a curtain instead of a door. There is no room to unpack or move around comfortably. The dark green paint and trim look moody in photos, but in person……

“房间不大，隔音不好，隔壁说话声传过来很清晰，空调声音极大，烦人。最差的是早餐，只有一种面包和果汁，外加普通咖啡和香蕉，别无选择，糟透了。”

“Horrible metal box beds that made horrible noises when turning over in bed also getting in and out of bed ,no daily cleaning for our room had to bring dirty towels and pick up new ones at night when getting back to room after a day of going off ,dog barking in rooms next door, traffic very loud outside our room ,was bad enough with no sleep the second night at midnight a tour bus trying to park outside with loud back up alarm ,we finally lost our money for the last night left the day before to……

“This hotel was totally unexpected. The personal touches that they add are enchanting! Each room is unique and the thought behind them is incredible. They offer a coffee bar during the day and a wine bar in the evening. We were even able to have a free movie outside with popcorn! This is an amazing place! The lobby is like a public living room and there are seating areas with firepits in multiple locations. It is totally walkable to downtown Highlands . . which is so charming! Stay here!”

“Clean room and great location to restaurants. We needed a room for one night and did not want to pay a huge price. Carolina Motel fit the bill.”

“Paul, the owner, is absolutely amazing. So many beautiful antiques. Breakfast was delightful. We are coming back again next year!”
