Accommodation near Southampton University

we stayed at Bassett apartment for 5 days while visiting my daughter in Glen Eyre Halls at the Univeristy. The location was perfect. it was a 10 min walk to her res, 10 min to the main uni and about the same to enter the commons. the signage for the apartment in non existant so we really battled to find it. The flats all share a common entrance which was filthy, we were reluctant to even go inside! once in the unit it was pleasant. the road is very busy and noisy and you are on the ground floor so there is not much privacy. the mattresses are very tired, the linen was clean but minimal, no extra blankets anywhere. the pillows very hard. One bathroom had a bathmat, the other none. The kitchen is great however the owner has supplied the cheapest cuttlery which says a lot. If the owner was prepared to put in decent cutlery, sharp knives and a few more extras in the kitchen it would help. The owner could certainly upgrade the bedding and supply bathmats,and a drying up dish cloth at the least. The person doing the cleaning does not move anything, so there was thick dust under the couches and beds. I pushed the couches aside in the hope that when she came in to clean she would notice the dirt under neath. location great but the cleanliness and state of linens/ beds leaves much to be desired. a little bit of extra cash spent on it and a good cleaning person would make a world of difference, as well as maybe a gign outside saying Bassett Apartment.
