Our stay was absolutely perfect, the hotel was lovely and the staff were absolutely superb, I especially loved watching the chickens outside in the garden. It was that lovely we are heading back in July.
The Kames hotel is in fabulous location overlooking Bute and a great base for exploring. We spent a week here and still so much to see. The hotel is lovely blend of old and modern - rooms were spotlessly clean, comfortable and well furnished. We are each night in the restaurant and enjoyed great variety of delicious meals . The owner and staff are warm, welcoming and friendly. Our dog was made welcome too!
We had a lovely 2 night stsy at Kames Hotel. The scenery/ views are stunning and the water was cristal clear which allowed us a dip in the water.
The choice at breakfast was excellent and we also had food in restaurant at night which we also would not fault.
To say it us dog friendly is an understatement and would highly recommend.

Not worth the money
Food excellent, accommodation not worth what we paid for a couple on a two night stay. No hot water. Infact turned hotvtap on and nothing came out. Had to go down 3 flights of stairs to report. Bedroom very cramped and the bed was literally on the floor. Very basic room. Bar area and staff great.
Fantastic hotel, quiet, had a room overlooking the loch. Lovely walks in the area. Hosts were amazing, Irene and Scott plus others. Food was brilliant. We met some lovely people and made new friends. It was quite perfect for our first break away at Christmastime. Hope to be back in 2025. A big thank you to all. Ian and Caroline
I have rarely used exceptional to review a hotel but the Kames was. We travelled here from New Zealand on holiday and we only had one night but it was exceptional.
The restaurant menu is top class, the range on the menu was great and seriously 10/10. I had locally free dived seared scallops from the loch, I had the slow roasted goat shank with lentils - exceptional, and we shared a lemon tart with fresh berries. I loved the Kames and I seriously recommend both the hotel and the restaurant.
That is my honest feedback, Thanks, Phil.
We were marooned in the Kames Hotel when excessive rain, flooding and landslides closed all the roads out. We could not manage to get to the wedding we had come to attend (neither could the celebrant, hairdresser, makeup artiste..) but we sat in all our finery with glass in hand beside a roaring log fire in the guest sitting room and thoroughly enjoyed the Google Meet wedding of the year !
Great food, company and staff who did all they could to make our stay comfortable.
Hotel very clean, lovely decor, staff very friendly, however our room wasn’t the best with sloped ceiling, also shower tube didn’t hang up so bit awkward trying to use bath & wash hair! Breakfast was ok, can’t comment on Evening meals as we didn’t eat in.
Lovely setting overlooking the sea and the Isle of Bute. Nice bar and friendly staff. Although we knew our room was a 'small', we weren't prepared for the fact that there was a cam ceiling and we could scarcely stand up on it. Suffered a few bumped heads🤕
Its a realy nice hotel just a few little things let it down, breakfast was ok but could be better.
The hotel looked to have a staff shortage and they seemed to be a bit stretched, the evening meals were very good.
The staff forgot to make the bed one day but i suppose that is down to lack of staff. The shower in our room was nearly impossible to use it was either scalding hot or freezing cold nothing in between. The staff were very friendly which made the few problems easier to overlook.
We have stayed at this hotel many times. It is in a gorgeous location but our weekend away was not great. The hotel is being refurbished (a rug doctor machine was left outside our room) and the bedroom was freezing.... it was so cold we struggled to sleep. We paid £140 for one night (that included £10 for our dog). When we explained how cold it was the next morning, a man did ask 'why did you not tell us?'. There are no phones in the room so we would have had to go down stairs and ring a bell to wake someone up. This did not sound appealing. As it was off season, work being done on the hotel and the temp of the room it did not feel worth it. It has put us off returning.

Der Standort ist perfekt und das Personal sehr freundlich.
Awesome, friendly staff and beautiful town. Heated bathroom floor was a really nice touch. Bedding did not look very clean though, and no body soap was provided, but the rest of the experience overshadowed this for me.
