"Stayed with 10 friends with average age of 60. Photos of house interior on Vrbo are generally accurate - those on the website for Wheathill show different furniture and soft furnishings. Overall1930s shabby chic vibe is very nice and as expected. Good location in rural residential area10 mins walk to nearest shop and a pub. "A clean and well-maintained property, the rooms were roomy. The breakfast was reasonably priced and had a good variety. Tereza at the front desk was extremely helpful throughout our stay. The property is about a 30-minute walk from the train station and cruise ship terminal, mostly level with one slight uphill grade. There is a convenience store about a block away as well as restaurants and shopping within about a 10-minute walk. We would stay there again."

"Parking is free for guests, pop your registration in the machine at reception. The room and bathroom were clean and bed comfortable. Plenty of hanging and drawer space. Would have been a nice touch to have bottled drinking water included with the bedroom hot drink station. The shower water pressure was non-existent, this was reported to reception on check-out. Breakfast was tasty, but for the price the selection was small and filter coffee a disappointment. The evening meal (mushroom & chicken risotto) was well cooked and a decent size portion, with friendly service provided by Jacob. My only big moan was that while having dinner the fire door to the restaurant was open and the cigarette smoke from guests outside was wafting in, which was mentioned to waiting staff and also to reception at check-out. Overall, a decent hotel with very friendly staff and handy if you’re visiting the zoo next door."

"Car Park was small and not free. The hotel had another car park but it was not easy to get to although we were given a map. Lots of one way streets… Although we booked twin rooms they did not have any when we got there but got free upgrade to garden view room super king and complimentary drinks."

"Staff were super friendly. There’s a £30 surcharge for a dog but for that he got a super comfy bed and bowl which made his stay a real treat. Didn’t get a chance to use pool but did walk around the very pleasant grounds. When we arrived we were concerned that with two events going on we might not get much sleep however the soundproofing was excellent, didn’t disturb us at all. Room in the Mansion House was clean and well appointed with a lovely super king bed. Breakfast good and plentiful parking although I’m guessing there may have been issues with width of spaces in the past as we saw many cars straddling two spaces :) Didn’t cause us any issues though. We’d love to head back!"
