「The room was acceptable, the restaurant was fine, and most of the staff were pleasant (including the owner). The problem came when I asked for change for a 20 pound English note so I could leave a tip after I paid for dinner. The change I was given was Scottish currency. I was told that English currency was not available. And while it may have the same value as English currency, it is not readily accepted in other parts of the UK or in overseas territories. I had a bit of a disagreement over...

「I checked in about 7:00pm and my Booked room had been given to another guest. I was given the “last” room - a twin with basin in the room (tells you how outdated it was). 「We had a lovely short stay at Macbeth’s Hillock. The cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable, with everything we needed. We mainly stayed there overnight while travelling, but I also cooked dinner there, which worked very well. The location is peaceful, close to local sights, and right next to a farm with beautiful sheep, which made the stay feel even more charming. A very pleasant place for our short stay.」
