「Staff were very helpful - we had been booked into another hotel locally but missed the check in times and it was locked up- so called the Castle and they were prepared to wait for us to get there 」

「Stayed for one night, the bar area was really busy when I arrived at around 1845hrs. Booking in was straightforward and the room was comfortable with an en-suite. The locals in the bar were very welcoming and friendly. I had a full breakfast, which was excellent, the staff were also very friendly. If you are looking for somewhere to stay, the location is an excellent base for touring the area, and the price of rooms are good value. 」

「This an innovative property developed by a local Trust which restored a historic building in a declining neighborhood into a combined art gallery, conference facilty, bistro and hostel. It is modern, clean, and close to many fine restaurants and bus and train transportation. This is an excellent location for access to Edinburgh to the north, Newcastle to the south, and nearby tourist attractions, and affordable! 」

「Wonderful hosts and excellent service. The bar is a friendly pub frequented by locals as well as residents. We were allocated the family room although only the two of us. It was very spacious. There is a separate restaurant where breakfast is served. Breakfast was great and apart from cereal everything is served to you table. We ate dinner in the hotel and it was amazing (wish now I had taken photos!), we had the chowder which was homemade to order and had them ordered the pork and black...

「Welcome from staff in bar good, room confortable-no mirror for drying hair . Limited menu in bar for evening meals Great breakfast although the large room was a bit chilly and there were only two table to be served.」

「Got text day of visit with instructions on how to enter was easy and good , breakfast was nice but bed was a bit uneven rolling to one side 」
