“This location is absolutely fantastic. Direct access to the Frio river for swimming, fishing or just enjoying the beautiful view. We were a family group of all ages, and everyone had a wonderful time. Easy communication with the owner for questions. Highly recommend.”

“August 2025 family vacation was great the whiskey mountain Valley Cabins were amazing from check in to check out. Check-in was a breeze. The owners made it very easy and very straightforward with how to check in, they even let us know if that the cabin was ready way before our check in. The kitchen was great. They were fully equipped with utensils, pots and pans they provided a coffee maker and microwave. Everything was great. The cabin was literally like in their description just minutes away……

“Great house, had everything we needed for a family of 9, very roomy. House was nice and cool when we arrived...big plus not having to wait to cool down since we had a baby with us. Beds where comfortable. Loved the water pressure! Cute little store right across from us(very reasonable prices)Close to everything... five mins to Leakey and 20 mins to Lost Maples for a morning hike. And 5 mins to relax in the river, which was great cuz it was FREE. The only thing I would suggest is putting some……

“Great place for our getaway will stay again soon. Just bring bed sheets. pillows and blankets and towels kitchens are full equipped for cooking. Place was big and roomy and cozy Had a fireplace but didn’t use it. The area is under a burn ban at the moment so we wasn’t able to use firepit at nights walking distance to water hole to soak your feet for the time being Leakey about a 10min drive or so. A convenience store is about a 5min drive. Garner State park is about 10min drive as well. Very……

“Everything was wonderful about this property. Off the beaten path, private, quiet, nature all around. WiFi still strong. Although 2 pins were provided, neither got us all the way to the property. Need more specific directions to the actual house. Also a little odd that no towels or linens (linens were provided once we ask during off season only) were provided - although that may be standard for the area. Overall very happy with our stay. “Our trip was very relaxing. The views were beautiful. It rained a lot but there were plenty of games and puzzles. The younger generation were amazed by the old phones. This is a beautiful little town and home. ”

“This was exactly what we were needing! The cottage is adorable and private, which we loved. The sunrises and sunsets were breathtaking! We spent hours in the afternoons enjoying the river and I think our dogs enjoyed it more than we did! It was flowing nicely, clear and cold. We love the Frio, it’s always been our happy place! We will be back! ”

“Great place on the Frio, very spacious, nice rooms and porch deck (as well as pavilion down by the river). Host was great. The bunk house worked out well for the college kids and the 3 rooms for the adults/parents. We hope to stay there again next year.”

“We were 10 people. One family of 5 stayed in the bunkhouse, one family upstairs and 1 couple downstairs. We had plenty of room and it was comfortable. There was good water in the river. It is a quiet and peaceful location. We enjoyed our stay and would return. ”

“Had a great time, house was comfortable. Loved the fact that access to the river was limited by natural barriers up and down river. Limited our ability to kayak very far, but also limited others using the river where we were.”

“A group of us always try and get away a few days each year. This year we chose the Hill Country, and we could not have picked a better spot. We all love to cook, so the smoker, grill and amazing kitchen were perfect for great dinners. The pool was immaculate, and porch time was very relaxing. Could not recommend enough. ”

“Great location, convenient to surrounding attractions. Great pool. Kitchen was well equipped, plenty of clean towels. The only thing that I can criticize was that the floor under the beds were pretty dusty, but other than that it was great.”

“very nice place and layout, plenty of privacy for each family! The pool was fun! karaoke machine, arcade games, ice machine, very family friendly with lots to do. Will definately try to make this a yearly tradition ”
