Our stay was during the coronavirus outbreak so travel throughout Japam was way down. As a consequence, we were the only guests! After getting off the bus from the train station, finding this ryokan was a challenge. Forget its long name and lookfor the sign that says RAKU. It's down a narrow cement walkway from the road.
Breakfast and dinner were great. Be advised that it is a little isolated with essentially nothing that is a short walk away.
Ofuro hot spring baths were great.
Really good value for money. The host (couple) were so amazingly friendly, helpful and service minded. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. On the second morning our breakfast was adjusted to more easy breakfast for westerners which our kids were happy about.
Nice, spacious room and very quiet place. Futon mattresses to sleep on.
Location is good - just remember that there are no nearby shops and restaurants.
Excellente maison familiale, très accueillante et chaleureuse.
Usage de l'anglais difficile, mais suffisant pour les interactions de base (prévoir une application de traduction en temps réel).
Just 2 mins walking distance from Kami-Gora station, interior is cozy, facilities are new, both BBQ dinner and traditional Japanese breakfast are excellent. The only down side is you need to share toilet with others. (Only 2-4 guest rooms per floor, usage amount is quite low)
One of staff can speak simple English so that basic communication is not a problem.
I didn't like the area, extremely quiet and with no restaurants around. Having dinner was an odyssey. You can't walk anywhere, because the streets are super steep. The cable car closes at 6.30 pm. We asked the guy at reception is it was possible to have dinner at the hotel, but we were unable to communicate. They don't speak English at all nor are able to understand what you're asking for.
