Long weekend at Lake Hopatcong

Had a great stay and the property was perfect for spending the day at the lake and then relaxing and enjoying the evenings with the game room, decks and hot tub. Everything as advertised and no issues with checkin or an assist to get the BBQ going.

Not a 1star, but not a 5

To begin with the positives: the location couldn't be better; the air conditioning was excellent; good fridge; we happily lounged on the dock and deck for hours; and there was enough room for everyone. However, if you advertise as top drawer, you need to come close. Here are the negatives: the game room smelled badly; the oven was filthy; the pan in the outdoor grill was so greasy, it caught fire; there was 1 bar of soap for the entire house; the blowup float was ripped and not useable; the bedroom lighting is way too dim; no tissues; no salt; no large mixing bowls; no blender; the new washer/dryer was in a shed so awful, no one would enter; not enough towels and more of that sort of thing. Most unpleasant was that fact that none of my communications received a response, including the one that asked for help because the living room TV did not work. The house has potential but it needs a real cleaning and painting and a lot of love.

Fraudulent Listing

Lovely on line pictures, not one is reality. Hot tub out of service until day 4, fire pit not working until day 3, no deck furniture on hot tub deck or dock, has well water which doesn’t supply enough to fill soaking tub, railings loose on all decks and do not meet stairs on steps to water. Broken slate on outside steps as well as loose bricks at entry. Overwhelming home heating oil smell throughout the house which required air fresheners from Walmart. Literal nightmare, owner did help by sending forks via Amazon. Approximately 40 winding cement stairs, not evenly spaced or lit at night, to front door and another 3 flights of decrepit wooden to lakefront. Horrible.
