"This Hotel has a genuine Kerala experience restaurant that you could only experience here or in Kerala, India itself. You don't have to fly to Kerala to experience genuine Kerala food."
" Easy check in and very helpful staff. The rooms are beautiful and I love that they have name's for the rooms and not numbers.
Everything was spotlessly clean.
We stayed overnight for a wedding we were attending near by.
Would definitely recommend. "
"The Royal Oak has a wonderful location in a quiet village setting and visitors can expect a relaxing change of pace. The countryside around is spectacular for England and the people are without exception friendly and helpful. I'm perhaps biased because my family lived in Gt Ayton in the early 19th Century and although I was born in North Yorkshire today, as a visiting southerner it's very much my home ground. This was my third or fourth visit and I thoroughly recommend The Royal Oak to tourists,...

"Situated in a lovely village where we went out to eat but the food there looks very good also.
We went to the bar and played pool in the games room and also used there gym. Bed was comfortable and even got biscuits in the room so would say this is definitely value for money! "
"Well, it was money well spent; access to all areas in the resort was lovely, and the customer service was top-notch throughout. I would definitely return in the future. The entertainment center was a welcome addition, making the trip a lot more enjoyable."
"Friendly efficient local staff. Excellent breakfast and restaurant food especially the daily specials. Housekeeping excellent. Rooms functional but a bit dated.Parking directly outside courtyard rooms is a bonus for any disabled visitors and access to the main entrance is easy.
The city of Durham ,Beamish Museum and The Auckland Project are all within less than half an hour’s drive. Although just off a busy road the courtyard rooms are quiet with a rural view at the rear . I would use this hotel again. "
"I find the accommodation ideal for our needs. The rooms are in a separate building to the pub/restaurant so noise is minimal and facilities convenient. We've stayed here several times now and I'll keep coming back."
"We stayed 2 nights Thursday & Friday half board. The room very clean and comfortable. Breakfast & evening meal, food and service fantastic. Pool, sauna & steam room perfect. Full body massage fantastic. Overall couldnt fault our stay. Perfect relaxation.. Thank you again Redworth Hall... our go to hotel "
"The hotel is in a great location, high up, with great views of the Abbey and the town. There are steps up to the hotel from the town or you can walk up the road (Khyber Pass). There is limited onsite parking which needs to be booked in advance. Room 2 was clean and had a new carpet and bed. It was quite a large room with a sea view. At the time of our visit (Sept. 2025), there was a lot of noisy work being done on hotel improvements, but this will only improve the hotel for future guests. The staff were very helpful and we would definitely stay here again."
