“We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Avalon B&B. Nick was a superb host and the property as a whole was very clean and tidy. The rooms had everything we needed for our short stay and the breakfast options were great. The full English breakfast Nick cooked on our 2nd morning was the ideal start to the day for our long drive back up to Manchester. The town with restaurants, bars and shops is only a 4/5 min walk with the New Forrest also close by. All in all a great place to stay and would highly……

“Lovely hotel, staff really friendly. Free parking round the back of the hotel with space for about 10 cars. Breakfast was included with our room. The breakfast consists of self serve cereals, fruit juices and water then you order from a menu for the rest of your breakfast. We opted for poached eggs on toast and the poached eggs were perfect. There are 14 rooms available at this hotel which is above a pub. There isn’t a lift so if you have mobility issues you may struggle. No air conditioning……

There is a bus stop right outside in case you do not drive or wish not to drive. We did have breakfast and dinner, both of which were very good. Caters for breakfast and dinner and has a bar. Room was clean, had everything that you needed. This hotel allows dogs. There was no smell of dogs throughout the building and not one dog……

“Breakfast service was a little chaotic due to the numbers of residents eating in one sitting, with only 3 members of staff on duty. The selection and quality of food however was very good. The staff are always busy but extremely approachable and will always help if there is an issue. The rooms are clean, a little basic but comfortable. The swimming pool is very good and a huge asset to the hotel. The hotel is ideally suited for walking into the town of Lyndhurst, just a few minutes walk away.……

“Upon entering, the room smelt strongly of mould and damp. There was mould all over the bedroom window and the smell also came from the bathroom. The bathroom door latch didn't work, so the door didn't stay closed. The bathroom extractor fan is caked with dust, the bath looks like it hadn't been cleaned, the panel looks incomplete and the grouting is mouldy in the shower. The bedroom had a radio, which was also caked in dust. I have a severe allergy to dust, which immediately caused a……

“This is a 15th Century building with the stable block converted into accommodation. The room we occupied was very large with all the usual amenities, pristine clean with a huge comfortable bed. The breakfast menu was comprehensive as was the dinner menu. My only suggestion is that a help yourself coffee and tea facility would enhance its facilities.Excellent hotel at the price.”
