The only security between my family and anyone on the street (in a rather rough-looking neighborhood) was an unlocked door to the building and a hollow-core apartment door with a simplistic key code. There is no loading zone to park to unload a vehicle, except for the driveway of the bodyshop next door. While the apartment itself was generally clean, the building was not. Also, the walls were so thin that the neighbor's TV was plainly audible (I could hear every word of dialogue as though it were playing in the room with me). This was all on my initial walk-through of the apartment.
We ended up getting a hotel downtown at the last minute that night rather than stay.
