"I typically travel to Kyoto for sightseeing, and of course, delicious cuisine, so this review is based on those motives. Typically I choose a spot close to Kyoto Station as I like to hop on a train and visit all of the lovely spots that Kyoto has to offer, so I'm used to being in a location with a lot of easy access to transportation as well as food, and staying at S-Peria was a new experience for me. I'll list different criteria in case it helps with your travels. Location - Not bad. If we use Kyoto Station as the the Southernmost central location in Kyoto, then S-Peria would be on the West side of Kyoto. And it is a fairly short <10 ride to Kyoto station on the local JR train, or also a fairly short two stops to Nijo station. The line that runs through the station has just one track in either direction and is called San-nin. If you are traveling with a JR pass during your stay, your JR pass can be used to cover the costs of riding. The hotel is a very very short two short block walk to the Tambaguchi train station, but it's a definitely a non-touristy part of town and dining options are sparse, limited to a few so-so restaurants between 2-6 blocks away. It's great access if you want to go to Nijo Castle or to see the bamboo forest at Arashiyama (both on the San-nin line), but if you want go to the heart of old Kyoto (aka Gion 'ghee-ohn'), with the shops new and old, the temples and shrines, like Kinkaku-ji or Kiyomizu-dera, Heian, and more, those are all bundled up on the"
