Lovely hotel, a nice place. When we arrived it was very clear that we were upsetting their routine by arriving at 9:30 PM. We arrived after a long days air travel, and were leaving early the next AM to catch another airplane. My son and I went to the bar and had a few drinks, while the place was being rolled up and put away. We retired, and 11 PM i was awakened by a man insisting that I come to the door and pay a bill using a credit card. I spoke to him and reminded him that I had signed the bar bill and had in fact secured credit by deposit of $600 at the insistence of the management a few hours earlier.
I told him top go back downstairs and sort out his management, and he reluctantly gave up. In the morning no one not only would not investigate it was pretty obvious that they did not believe me, and being the only non- Singapore ethnic people in the hotel can only think of the word racial to describe it. At the age of 80 I expected more deference, and especially so when we had prepared what is one of the most expensive hotels in a place known for high prices. I will not be put off Singapore but I certainly will avoid the hotel and its associated ones on a world basis.. The place seems as though it is run by the staff for the benefit of the staff and not the customers. If the hotel staff could not point to a person who would have done this, and would not countenance the idea that there might be some of the staff working a scam they are hopeless. Frank Trask
